Put on your swimsuit and take a dip in the tropical waters or find a spot on the beach to work on your tan for the day. Browse the souvenir stalls or stop by one of the beachside restaurants for a tasty fish dinner.
Playa San Pedrito is the closest beach to Manzanillo town centre. It is one of the area’s oldest beaches and was once the site where local shark fishermen camped. They have all gone now, along with the sharks, and Playa San Pedrito is one of the most popular hangouts for locals and visitors looking to spend a day at the beach.
Find a spot on the sand and enjoy some people-watching. This beach is where the locals come to play and relax. At any given time you’ll find games of beach volleyball or soccer taking place, young couples strolling along the shore and children playing in the sea.
Lie back on the warm sand and listen to the sounds of the palm leaves rustling in the wind. Swim a short way out to sea for one of the best views of the beach. You’ll see the green hills behind the city and the entrance to the harbour a little way to your right.
Spend some time browsing the souvenir stalls on the road behind the beach to buy locally made crafts. When you get hungry you can choose from several seafood restaurants, all serving the catch of the day with Mexican style. Try a local favourite, Colima ceviche, made with fish, shrimp, crab and octopus.
Playa San Pedrito is a short walk from Manzanillo town centre. It is a lively place to be year-round and becomes busier on weekends.
