Plandome Manor Trip

The size of the room and the view are the only good memories I’m keeping of this hotel. The problem started immediately at check in. They charge a 35 dollar resort fee. That’s non refundable. But you can use it at the bar/starbucks/ restaurant and breakfast. But get there early b/c it’s at least an hour wait for teach. And the credit doesn’t roll so you need to use it or give them a fr33 35 bucks. The next problem is with the room. The ADA room they gave me had a roll in shower that floods every time you shower. House keeping ended up make a little dam out of towels which prevents you from being able to roll into the roll in shower….. I Knew this was an old hotel and the rooms would be a little outdated. And I was alright with that. However I’m not ok without any airflow in the room. Our room wouldn’t cool off. So the front desk sent someone by to look at it. They removed the filter from the AC. And point blank said it won’t get better b/c it’s an old hotel and the AC can’t keep up. So for six days we’re stuck in a shoebox with no airflow. Housekeeping is visible throughout the hotel but never at your room. And when they do stop by you won’t be able to tell. The amount of trash under the bed from previous guest. Really shows just how “ thorough” of a job they do.it’s disgusting. The lack of communication from one dept to another is non existent. But my biggest problem was that the night I checked in they charged 2 thousand additional dollars and blame it on the “AI”

We had an incredible stay at the Essex House last week with our two kids (one is 7 and the other turned 4 on our trip). We booked the king suite, thinking that even though it's NYC and the room will likely be small, it would be the best option for a family of 4. We were SHOCKED at the size of the suite! Not only was it enough room for all of us, it was downright roomy! We had plenty of space for our stay. The amenities and cleanliness of the hotel are superior, room service was delicious (if expensive), and best of all...the guest relations team sent a special surprise gift to our room for our 4 year olds birthday. They sent him balloons, two pieces of cake, and a bag full of stuffies and goodies. He was THRILLED and we were so touched by the thoughtfulness. Both of our kids have already asked if - not only can we go back to New York - but can we stay at the Essex House again! The location was incredible and overall the Essex House played a big part in how wonderful and effortless our trip was. Already looking at dates in the Spring to visit again! Thank you Essex House and your wonderful staff!

Location, location, location! The staff was outstanding. The rooms were updated and clean.
