The ancient capital of Scotland, this busy market town is beautifully set along the banks of the River Tay.

Perth was the capital of Scotland until the mid-15th century, and remains one of the country’s most important commercial and cultural centers. Nicknamed “the fair city,” this attractive town is home to several fine museums as well as a famous castle. Explore the surrounding countryside, which is ideal for hiking and walking.

Go for a walk along Tay Street, where some of the city’s grandest historic buildings are set along the River Tay. Browse interesting boutiques and galleries or visit one of the pretty parkland areas, known as the North Inch and South Inch, which border the city center.

"Room was okay for a couple of nights but bed was very compact and hard for me. Tiny frying pan and pot for one person, we didn’t want to cook but if you do the facilities and utensils are not provided. No microwave in room either. We have lived in Perth and my husband is from here. But was pleasantly surprised from our last visit three years ago that it as improved. There are some fantastic restaurants and cafes. It was buzzing which was nice to see.
