The only reason why I'm ratinf this hotel this way it's because I contacted Expedia long time ago and let them know I wouldn't be able to travel so I was requesting to cancel my reservation and get a reimbursement. It was an emergency and I feel like the hotel could have done more to be helpful. I was very looking forward to travelling and staying at this hotel but the poor management preferred to not make an exception and have a customer dissatisfied just because of lack of empathy or flexibility, and greed. Next time I travel to Paris in May I'll make sure not to stay at this hotel and will not recommend it to my friends.

The hotel is what to expect for a relatively inexpensive hotel in Paris. The front desk staff was very friendly. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great. The area around hotel is gross. The area suffers from a serious homelessness and drug addict problem. We travelled all around Paris and this was clearly an epicentre of the city’s social problems. If I could do it over, I’d stay somewhere nicer for a bit more.

First the good parts. The staff was truly amazing. They spoke several languages and we're always willing to help (opening wine, switching rooms, giving directions). They made my stay special. I also like the location close to many supermarkets and restaurants. Metro République is a block away. Now the not so great. The property itself is in need of renovation. If you have mobility issues it will be difficult to go down to the basement for breakfast. The rooms vary tremendously in size. I settled on a second room on the 5th floor, that despite the low ceiling had windows that actually opened to let fresh air in. I would stay again if the price were right.

Good value for the price
Stay was quite agreeable, staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was good and had a good variety of food, heating worked well and the room was decent, although it was quite small.

Small room desperately needed updating. Breakfast was good, but the AC unit was filthy. Dirt balls fell out of it onto the floor and the suitcase below. Did not see it until checkout, but GROSS. In addition there was a Metro strike on Friday and no notice from Mgmt on the announcement board.. Consequently we missed our train and had to rebook for a train 6 hours later. Thanks for nothing

DO NOT STAY WITH IBIS CHAIN
bad part of town, riots and transient persons filled street. No AC even though they advertised AC. Staff refused to assist in any way to help us deal with no AC, they entered our room even though we had Do Not Disturb on the door, and personal items were missing. Staff and Management refused to do anything about it. I will NEVER stay with IBIS again.

Visited August 1st when weather was hot. In my room the much needed Air conditionor was positioned directly over my bed pillow end which prevented me from havinf a good nights sleep. Also significant noise from the street through the night did not help. Considering location and price OK for a single night as with my stay but would not recommend for anything longer.

Good location and friendly staff.But lots of problems...the bathroom was smelling awfully all the time so WE bought a refreshing air spray to stand the smell.No refrigerator and no safe-box, terrible air condition in the room and at the reception.This was NOT a 4 stars hotel as Expedia site mentioned.Finally,the stairs inside the room was romantic but super exhausting even for us (35years old)...We wouldn’t recommend it.

Great to get your head down whilst on a weekend p1ss up with your mates, but but not a hotel, and certainly not a hotel for business was trips. No restaurant for evening meals makes this a Bed and Breakfast at best.

Rooms were very small - we booked a double room and instead they gave us 2 rooms with single beds. No air conditioning and when windows open very noisy street. Breakfast was good! Lift was not working - very narrow winding stairs to 3 rd floor rooms. Very basic rooms.

Nice Hotel close to Republique
Had a double bed the first time but only a single bed the second time. spacious room, shower with great pressure and hot water. Fantastic breakfast with Fresh orange juice and pastries. Great value for money. 5 mins from Republique station

It was a good place with friendly staff working but breakfast was not having a lot of varieties of food in addition to wifi was weak a bit , in addition that I had heavy bag and it was really a bad situation to try to find my room and take the bad inside and outside of the room as the corridor was very narrow and lift was far away from my room.

I liked the fact there was tea and coffee in the reception area whenever you wanted it. I think the rooms are a bit dated and could do with a bit of TLC. Staff were fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming.

Not worth more than $50/night if you have to
Paper thin walls, advertised pictures misleading, purchased nonsmoking but room next to use was smoking and we could smell the smoke coming into our rooms. Wall paint peeling; heater has chuncks it mutes falling out. General disrepair. In waiting area good tv channels in room laughable. Window curtains had dirt growing on it, yet cleaning staf disregards do not disturb sign and enters room. Property access has not been updated since 18 century, you have to use a key and every time you leave building you have to leave your room key. Bathtub is made for a 4 foot human.

A basic hotel 4 minutes walk from Republique. Convenient enough location to travel around via the metro. With a good number of restaurants, fast food, supermarkets, it makes for a reasonable stay. Canal Saint Martin is less than 5 minutes walk sway, although there isn't much to see/do. Quite a few pricey restaurants lining both sides of the canal. This is a small hotel with limited facilities and amenities. The restaurant only serves breakfast with limited choices. There was no egg even. Check in is efficient. The only lift was not working during my 4 days' stay. The spiral staircase is narrow and hard for people going up/coming down at the same time. Single room (some have bath tub) is small and narrow. There is no warddrobe nor in room safe. Limited TV channels in French. Hair dryer is available but no tooth brush nor in room coffee/tea making facility. But tea/coffee is avaiable at the reception. Hot air conditioning is not working well. The single bed s comfortable, so is the duvet. I booked the room early at lower rate so it is worth it.

Great location.
The hotel is in a great location, just a minute or two's walk from the Metro, which connects directly to Gare Du Nord, so perfect for those arriving by Eurostar/train. We had booked two single rooms and these were on the top floor, so nice and quiet. The rooms are in the eaves so some sloping ceilings and quite low ceiling so maybe not good for very tall people - perfect for us though. The beds are larger than the single beds we have in the UK so this was nice, and they are very comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate, with a good water pressure and lots of hot water - however I would warn about the size of the showers, they are tiny. I am 5'6" and the ceiling of the shower was maybe 7" higher than me, so again, not good for very tall people, and the cubicle was very small/narrow, I couldn't bend in it so washing legs and feet was hard. Breakfast is a standard 'continental' type breakfast - some cereals, breads, cheese, ham, fruit salad, croissants and chocolate pastries, yoghurt. I read some people complaining about the breakfast but it is great to set you up for the day. You have to leave your room key when you go out, which isnt an issue as reception is 24 hours, however I was quite surprised and worried that whenever we got back no one asked our name or for ID, they just gave the keys when we said the room number - anyone could have gotten in! All in all a great hotel for the price, but please, be more secure with the room keys :)

I stayed at a single room and it was very small but big enough for a one person. The WiFi connected very smoothly and I didn’t hear a sound at night so i slept well. The free breakfast buffet was much better than I was expecting so over all my stay there was very comfortable .
