Thank you for your input Catherine, yes, there was an usually strong wind storm during the nights surrounding your stay. Of note, The Hideaway was built in 1947 and has been thoroughly restored, so much so that it is designated a Class 1 Historic Site by the City of Palm Springs. When built in 1947, there was no reception lobby or front desk, therefore, in 2024, there is no reception lobby or front desk. As the current owners of The Hideaway since 2017, we can assure you we have always used “virtual” check-in which, during the pandemic, became known as “contactless” check in. It’s not an excuse to cut staff hours. Given the technology we utilize as it becomes available, we can be contacted via phone, email or text and our office is only a block away... so we can have someone there in minutes and we actually do have staff on site many times during the day. Part of the charm of The Hideaway is the private and discreet nature of the property, having a reception area could change the original intent of the property. The lounge you are referring to is not a reception area, it is a private lounge that is currently only used for special events. Guests are welcome to contact us for any needs, including access to more records (each room already has a small selection of records).
