"This hotel is very very new and sadly some things didn't quite meet the bar.
That's said the rooftop terrace is incredible the views are well worth it, the room was beautiful and the decor really in keeping with the coastal vibe.
Sadly the restaurant service was not the best we waited 45mins to have our order taken and then again waited a long time for food to arrive."
"Booked last minute for the Airshow on arrival the staff found me somewhere to park until a space was available next day. The room no 2 was fantastic the bed was really comfortable and had an amazing spa bath. When I returned to my room in the evenings it was amazingly clean again. I did not use the bar or the restaurant so I can not give thoughts on these.
All the staff I came into contact with were really friendly and welcoming."
"After not staying at this Ibis for 6 months in the hope it would have improved I am sorely disappointed.
Prior to check in, I had completed the necessary forms - the staff apparently could not print them, so I had to do a paper copy, whilst I filling this form out a member of staff was running around with a fly zapper, whilst his colleague filmed it whilst laughing.
I get to my room, there is bacon on the floor and no complimentary water (which hotels.com list in premium rooms) there was no hairdryer in the room, just an empty bag.
I had booked this room for a decent night's sleep after a busy few weeks, so what happens at 3.55am the fire alarm goes off. Who doesnt love being woken at that hour?! I will say the volume of the alarm is impressive, there is zero chance of sleeping through it. So, we all get to go outside in pyjamas, enjoy 4am air and await a fire truck. Obviously, there was no fire, so we are back in 25 minutes later, but of course the noise of hundreds of guests trying to get back into rooms means sleep evaded me for a long time. I woke up so late I could not shower and had a truly terrible day.
As this hotel is twinned with the Mercure the biggest issue it faces is staff seem to work at both locations, but don't seem to be trained on both computer systems. If the alarm had not gone off it would have been 4/5 but I visit hotels wanting a good night's sleep. This hotel seems to be beset by emergency services needing to visit."
"The hotel was situated in a lovely location, and our room had a wonderful view overlooking the golf course. The room itself was clean, and I had no issues with it at all. The pool and sauna were also clean, and I really enjoyed using these facilities.
However, breakfast was a major disappointment. The plates and mugs were not properly clean, which was off-putting. The pastries ran out and were not replenished, and there was no fresh fruit available apart from a mixed fruit salad served in a dirty cup.
Overall, the hotel has some great features, particularly its location, views, and leisure facilities, but the breakfast experience needs significant improvement."
"My single sea facing room was ready before the due time and was found to be very clean and well stocked with complimentary tea, coffee, milk, etc. The room was cleaned every day. All of the staff that I encountered were very friendly and my stay very welcome. A full English breakfast gave me a great start to the day. I recommend the Esplande Hotel in Paignton"
"Great hotel in the perfect location. Nicely decorated, room was fantastic with a huge bed. Bathroom flooded if we didn’t roll up towels, the shower screen was outside of the grating to catch the water!! Breakfast on the last day was disappointing, no muesli or yoghurt. I asked for both and was told they had none. Ten minutes later some guests were brought yoghurts?? I decided to have a pastry but they had all gone too. The car park spaces are really quite small but we did manage. Overall we would definitely stay again."
"Lovely short stay in this modern, innovative and eco- friendly hotel. Exceptionally friendly and helpful, polite staff, clean and modern rooms. Loved our stay and will be back again."
