Old road route Before the York to Selby road was straightened by the Turnpike Trust in the early decades of the 19th century, the road ran across this field. Aerial photos can show this quite clearly and occasionally scattered light stone, (used to repair the road), is visible in a line across the field.

We never stayed in the apartment we had book as told this was already occupied. We was given apartment 11. This was fine but a lot of road noise.
