We loved how convient the location of our hotel was to attractions and dining without being directly in the middle of the bustling inner city. The panoramic view of the city from our deluxe suite was to die for and seemed like one of the highest vantage points within the city. Extremely walkable to everything we wanted to see including the markets and we never needed a taxi for our 6 day stay, although we did schedule group tours to farther destinations via passenger van. The hotel was quiet and gave us exclusive access to shared spaces a lot of the time. The restaurant on-site is delicious and everyone is so friendly and helpful and keeps everything super clean. Highly recommend this hotel, we loved it!

Nice colonial hotel, very friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed. The only thing I would suggest, is to have a quieter AC.

The property has a lovely rooftop and is quiet , set in an old house. The rooms reflect the age of the property - bathrooms are small, to a point where it’s inconvenient at times but nothing one can’t get used to if you’re a small person like me. Theres no phone or kettle in the room, no laundry facilities on site and the staff doesn’t seem very well informed or helpful at reception. I find it a bit pricey for what it is but overall , good location and charming property. Has a lot of potential!

I loved the old style of the hotel. I didn't like that the restaurant closed at 3pm, that they charged us 250 pesos for supposedly dirtying some towels. The AC don't work property. Very small restrooms, no windows in our room. Receptionist Itzel rude after we told her about the towels. Towels are not white and they are also hard. I recommend you take your own if you decide to stay .

Thank you Casa Sotana! My daughter and I enjoyed this charming hotel right in the heart of the Central District (Centro). We walked and walked and walked, enjoying restaurants, museums, street parades, and chocolato, knowing we were always about 15 minutes from a quiet refuge. The roof top cafe was wonderful for breakfasts in the morning.

The shade windows and door must have the option to be dark since there is to much light during the sleep time. Also the a/c has a strong bright light, so provide something to cover it.

I liked the location of the hotel. The front desk staff was very good. The maid service was not good. Our room was great except for the poor placement of the AC unit. Who needs the kitchen to be cooled and not the bedroom? A simple inexpensive fix would be to have a fan on the space above the wall that separates the kitchen and bedroom to allow the cool air access to the bedroom.

Very disappointed! The images on Expedia are deceptive! Very little water coming out from shower head, smells horribly, lacking basic items that a hotel should have. I needed to borrow scissors and a needle with some thread, they had neither. The jacuzzi is a joke! The water was so dirty that I wouldn’t dare put my feet in it. This facility is very unkept.

This hotel is not good value for the price . Our King room (#18) was very small, and not very clean . It is a quaint hotel but needs an upgrade and the entire room, towels, linens are tired and worn . The upstairs Terrace had no chairs to sit on , the Jacuzzi area had worn furniture, filthy glass panels around it and the Jacuzzi water was not inviting at all . I will not return.

The property is in a great location. It’s walking distance to the city center. However it’s very outdated. The pool upstairs looked cloudy and It had an old smell to it. The key is also huge to carry.

We had a very nice stay at this charming hotel. Not luxurious, but comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast/lunch patio restaurant is very good. Would be nice if they would open later for drinks and snacks so guests could gather, share tips about their travels etc. All in all a very nice stay and good bargain.

Conveniently located, easy nearby walk to everything (just to note it is on a hill). The hotels service and cleanliness is great. I got the room with a kitchenette and I highly recommend! The room is spacious and comfortable. The only con is the water in the bathroom when showering. Water pressure is constantly fluctuating between “good” pressure and little water as well as the water temperature from hot/warm to cold.

Ok..lets be honest..the pics made it seem like we would have a rooftop pool overlooking the city. BUT It was a very charmong SAFE old world experience and would stay again! FYI. No liquor available on site..byob or walk to many wonderful little pubs or bars.

Hotel Casa del Sotano is a very warm, charming and inviting place. It has a lovely garden area, some great views, a very good cafe, pleasant helpful staff round the clock and though on a busy street is very quiet. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The location was also great for meandering around...very close to the Santa Domingo area and other touring spots.
