Executive Inn & Suites Embarcadero Cove
4/10 Poor
"Front desk staff were very nice and welcoming. Lobby seemed decent enough. Never ate any food although I did receive a complimentary breakfast ticket which was nice.
Room was ok. First floor at end of property. "Water view" was waterway view with buildings across the street and a homeless mini camp. The room's carpet was stained in multiple places, some of which were maybe food or other fluids that stood out on the dark carpet. I'm thinking they could have been cleaned up. Then there were other darker stains. It's either time for new carpet or much better cleaning protocols. When I exited the bed, and used my shoes, they stuck to the ground. Again, the carpet clearly needed attention. The bathroom towels had long hairs in them, as did the shower - never a good experience. Outlets were loose. The bed had a very clear divet in the middle, so I slept on one side. If I was staying for multiple nights, I definitely would have asked for another room. One night, and barely that I just dealt with it.
Also, the cleaning staff were rather loud in the morning. Glad to know they get along and enjoyed seeing each other, but it was 7am and they continued off and on til at least 8 am! I can't say I've ever heard the cleaning staff in other hotels I've visited in my 40 years of traveling."

"Great stay at the Shattuck. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect for a walk to the Berkeley campus. Great food options near by! We will definitely be back."

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina

"Great price for a clean comfortable stay in Berkeley"

Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge
10/10 Excellent
"I disagree with other reviewers regarding the breakfast. We found it really well stocked and very fresh. Staff was attentive and helpful. The menu included: scrambled eggs, cheese omelette, link and patty sausages, bacon, waffles, home fried potatoes, pastries, English muffins, croissants, hot and cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe, grapes, coffee, tea, juice, milk and more!"

Oakland Airport Executive Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The only that I noticed was that the online pictures of the lobby and the rooms were not current. Carpeting throughout was in need of either replacement or a deep cleaning. But other then that the rooms were clean, had plenty of towels and most importantly for me was the shower, toilets, and bathroom floor were very clean as was the bedding."

Graduate by Hilton Berkeley
6/10 Okay
"LOCATION - 5 Stars - Great, especially if visiting UC Berkeley; next to restaurants and shops and steps away from the University
STAFF - 2 Stars - There were only 2 or 3 young girls at the front desk that we met during our 3 day stay. All of them looked unhappy at their job and seemed a better fit at a Thrift Store.
CLEANLINESS - 3 Stars - much to be desired, specifically in the bathroom. Let's just say I was not about to use the bathtub. Throughout the room and bathroom, it looked like a deep clean was much needed.
RESTAURANT - 4 Stars - Nothing spectacular, my salad was not fresh, but prices were reasonable and the service was fast.
OTHER - 3 Stars - There was a very strong smell in the lobby, which I could not say what it was - candle or something else. While the decor in the lobby was interesting and inviting, it seemed that students and random people could just come in, buy a coffee and sit there using their computers. The room was a good size (we had the corner Campenile view) however, it did not feel clean, there was no pen, not even a single piece of paper to write a note. The Front Desk lobby area did not have any interesting materials on the area, what to do or see and I was not about to ask the front desk ladies, they did not inspire much confidence. There was no concierge either.
Overall good location, but not even a 4 Star hotel."

Claremont Resort & Club
10/10 Excellent
"I always enjoy my time at the Claremont. This time I did not rent a car and the only thing I missed was access to a nearby store to pickup essentials. A small gift shop would be something to consider."
