"Great hotel "

"It was a character property very close to the university of Berkeley campus, and close to all of the venues. The street was lively and the bar downstairs was a nice spot to have a coffee in the morning, laptop time in the lounge and a cocktail in the evening. Gym was small but serviceable. I would encourage travellers to bring good ear plugs. Some road noise, general noise from neighbors could impact sensitive sleepers. Also parking was sometimes a challenge as the two above ground lots were almost always full or had only 1 spot available. If you have a large car it is somewhat difficult to get in and out of the spots and tough to turnaround as someone new always parked in the non parking areas."

"Room was clean. Toilet bowl cover had to be moved in order to flush. There were abandoned cars and homeless people living in the parking lot. I had to leave my ID in exchange to use the iron and board - and I had to go get it and walk it back… super weird. The lobby was closed to guests, so just a walk up window from the parking lot. If staff is scared, makes me feel unsafe. The AC unit in the room was damaged, and the heater didn’t work - I was freezing. The phone was ripped out of the wall, so I couldn’t call the front desk. Also, they only provide a bar of soap - and I forgot shampoo. UGH "

"First time visitor to this hotel and I was expecting a luxury stay with views and relaxation. The view outside my window was of a wall. There was no view and it was very disappointing. We were charged for the ‘amenities’ of which we didn’t use, as the weather was not great, and swimming lessons were taking place on the Friday when we visited. We only went to the ‘club’ to check out the facilities and have one drink. We spent a lot of money, and dined there also. The drinks and food were great. But very disappointed with the room and lack of a view"
