North Conway Travel Guide

Tourist Guide
North Conway which includes a house, autumn colours and forest scenes
This resort town is known for its antique shops and nearby ski slopes, mountain scenery and annual fall colours.

North Conway is a resort town bordered by national forests and state parks. Browse antique stores, hit the surrounding ski slopes, hike through mountain wilderness or explore the area on a scenic railroad trip.

Make the most of North Conway’s close proximity to the northeast America’s  most renowned ski mountains, including Attitash Mountain Resort, Cranmore Mountain, Wildcat Mountain and Sunday River. Bus services run from town to the ski slopes in winter.

Wander between the antique stores and art galleries that line North Conway’s Main Street. Shop for bargains at Settlers’ Green Outlet Village, which has 60 factory stores as well as plenty of cafés, restaurants and bakeries.

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the wide variety of recreational activities that North Conway and the surrounding area offers. The town is nestled within White Mountain National Forest, an area defined by lush forests and rolling peaks. North Conway is less than 30 miles (48 kilometres) from Mount Washington, one of the most visited peaks in the northeast. Hike to the top of Mount Washington or take the Auto Road to climb to the summit by car or bicycle.

A leisurely way to enjoy the surrounding area is on the Conway Scenic Railroad. Board the train at North Conway Station, a registered Historic Landmark. Watch the scenery move past from your seat in the immaculately preserved train and enjoy a cocktail and a snack in the dining car.

New England is famous for its fall colours. Visit between September and November when the colours of the falling leaves are at their best. In winter the town is populated by skiers and snowboarders. Come in summer to hike through the mountains and enjoy the annual Arts Jubilee, an outdoor music festival.

Located on the east border of New Hampshire and along the scenic U.S. Route 302, North Conway is 136 miles (220 kilometres) from Boston and 62 miles (100 kilometres) from Portland. Once in the city, driving is the best way to see the sights.
