It was most enjoyable to sit and watch the eclipse (April 8, 2024) on the hotel property. I was concerned driving up from NC that I wouldn't know where to go to see it, and then it was "in my own backyard." Also appreciated the hotel being so close to I-77 and easy to get to. And, the staff were all very nice, especially the gentleman "hosting" in the dining area. It was a joy to see him each morning.
What I did not like at all was the technology used. While I am an older retired person, I did work a good many years in IT and am able to work with an app. The Hilton Honors App did not recognize me, even after I entered the confirmation# correctly when prompted. The concierge said that the app had not "linked me" to my reservation. I could not check in via the app nor could I see my charges and check out via the app. I also did not like the format of the receipt for my stay. Neither the $694 hotel room charge nor the $75 I had to pay upon arrival appear on the receipt. Only the charge for one dinner appears! I am hoping to be credited the $75, as I was told I would be by the concierge. I could only see all of my charges through my credit card bank. There is also a mysterious amount of $17.15 Embassy Suites charged me on 4/8/24 though I honestly have no idea what that was for. I would also like that refunded. But, like I say, the staff and room were very nice.
