The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't deterred our appetite for exploring. Here are some tips on how to tackle travel's new challenges:

• Before locking in your flight, find out if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Get up-to-date information by checking government and travel websites.
• You're required to wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. You should be prepared to adjust your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA employee.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, place your pass on the scanner and then hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on baggage. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to remove it from your bag for screening.
• Put any personal items (like your phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA employee will need to open your bag for inspection.
