Gorgeous architecture with heritage from the 18th century in a charming environment with swimming beaches and pristine nature makes Nora a definite must in Sweden.

Travel to Nora to see one of Sweden’s most beautiful towns. Stroll along cobbled streets and admire multi-coloured buildings of unique design. Located in the central Swedish county of Vastmanland, Nora is one of Sweden’s best preserved wooden towns, with architecture from the 18th and 19th century. If you want to do some shopping, you will find unique boutiques as well. Situated in the centre of Nora, shops sell everything from the latest Nordic design to antiques.

An absolute must on your weekend trip to Nora is Gothlinska Garden. This well preserved wooden home from the 19th century has today been turned into a museum where you can see for yourself how life was for the Swedish bourgeois classes at this time. Nora Golf Club is also worth a visit for those fascinated by the sport. The terrain on the course is hilly and it has a few ponds and water features. Enjoy a meal in the club restaurant after a game or practice your swing at the driving range.

With so many different activities to choose from, you will never be bored during a weekend in Nora. Taste beer brewed in the old fashioned way at Nora Brygghus. This microbrewery creates its own beers in the same way they have been made for centuries, and none of the brews are pasteurised or filtered. During the festive season there is a market in Nora, where the yearly Christmas brew is released.

Alntorps O is perfect for an excursion in summer. This little isle is located in the middle of Lake Norasjon, and boasts a few nice swimming beaches with pontoons as well as beautiful hiking trails. During the summer the little ice cream kiosk is open, so you can treat yourself to a summer classic. Nature reserve Kindla is a real wild adventure experience. There are no roads in the reserve, but there are a number of picnic spots and viewing platforms spread around the area. The most adventurous can even spend the night in the little wooden hut.

It's easy to travel to Nora. Catch a train or a bus from a nearby town - these are most frequent in summer. It’s also easy to park if you’re coming by car. Nora is a totally unique Swedish destination in an unbeatably beautiful environment with plentiful activities and fantastic Nordic food and drink.

"Wi-Fi was said to be available. But it was only near the reception that it worked. We had got the impression that there was WiFi in the cabins! There wasn't. It was obvious that the place had closed down for the summer - it was very quiet (nice) and the service-people had gone home (not so nice). ..."

Vi var på Nora marknad vilket var en fin marknad och ett fint samhälle. Vi åker gärna till Nora igen men väljer då annat boende!
