"This is an old hotel from Brits period. It is decently modern with hot/cold water showers comfortable beds with good linen. And the staff that work there are the most kindest and helpful people. Lovated right by the Buddhist Holy site, TheTemple of Tooth and the ancient lake, it is also very close for shopping as well Unlike many hotels in Kandy built on the mountain sides that require uphill downhill walksor TukTuks, Queens Hotel is right in the city. Only thing not to do is walking in the evening around the lake since all the birds in the world come to roost on trees around the lake. If you want to do a walk, go to the opposite side of the lake where paths are way from tree line. "

"It is a lovely property ans breakfaat spread is quite large. Staff are friendly byt could be better trained on small nuances. The last who checked us in vaguely indicated the direction of the room and we spent 10 minuted walki g up and down searching for it. When we asked for a la carte food options other than the I.suan restaurant they have, ot took me 20 minutes to get the front desk to admit that a la carte foid could be ordered at tje lounge bar as well. When i we t to the lounge bar it took another 15.minutrs if argument for them to agree that yes they would accept the irdr even when the food menu was clearly lying inthe counter top! With a bit of better training this place would be great"

"Enjoyed the gym, pool (very warm), and the room was clean. Enjoyed the welcome drink, even if check-in seemed a tad slow. The service at the bar was also very slow, and we actually cancelled our order and went elsewhere for some food. Breakfast was superb and staff were friendly. "

Mountbatten appealed to me for its heritage positioning and proximity to Kandy’s historical centre, and in many ways it delivered. Location & Atmosphere – 5★ The setting is exceptional: tranquil, elevated, surrounded by greenery, and beautifully maintained. The infinity pool is stunning and the staff are very mindful of guests seeking quiet. It genuinely feels peaceful. Service – 5★ Warm, attentive and polished throughout. The team clearly cares and service is consistently strong. Rooms – 4★ I stayed in the main bungalow (last-minute booking), not in one of the standalone jungle lodges, which look beautiful. My room was comfortable with strong AC and a spacious bathroom, though certain finishes could benefit from cosmetic updates. Food – 4★ Breakfast is good if you choose wisely. Coffee, however, does not match five-star standards. The main issue was menu consistency: several dishes did not fully match their written descriptions, and ingredients listed were sometimes missing. Communication between kitchen and menu needs tightening. Overall, Mountbatten has outstanding foundations — location, tranquility and service. With improved kitchen execution and small refinements, it could easily move from very good to exceptional. I would return — especially to try one of the lodges. "
