We've stayed in different places in New Orleans over the past 25 years and this will be the only place we stay in the future. The unique charm and history of this hotel epitomize all that is best about the French Quarter. It is like coming to stay as a guest at the home of a distant relative--you've got a great base to explore from, you can stop down to get a coffee, water, or snack at any time, and you don't feel like you're in an impersonal hotel. The houses that make up this hotel have a faded elegance that is comfortable if not always super convenient. For instance, in a driving rain, you might need an umbrella to get from your room to the lobby. Our room had a drip from the ceiling one morning during an unusally heavy storm, but the room was so spacious that it was only a minor inconvenience and it did not last long. If you are not comfortable with stairs or uneven floors, you will probably not be as much of a fan as we are. But the multiple courtyards, catwalks, unique rooms, and personal charm of this place provided exactly what we wanted. Can't wait to book another stay.
