Very nice hotel with very nice atmosphere. Definitely something I'd recommend. The interior was renovated probably 10 years ago, so it's not brand new, but it's clean and comfortable.
The Hotel CEO and the manager on duty took their time to talk to all guests one evening and ask about our stay etc. over a glass of champagne (free of charge). I've never seen such good service at a hotel. I should mention the spa and pool - very good bonus.
If I had to say something negative - the internet...

The situation was good and the hotel pleasant.
Staff downright rude - we asked where the bar was for pre-dinner drinks only to find they'd locked it up within 10 minutes of asking. Presumably they didn't like the thought of seven men having a drink despite the fact that all in their sixties or seventies. We were then offered to be served drinks outside but no-one came in 15 minutes so we took our business elsewhere. We will not be returning to this establishment which is a pity as a pleasant...

Wismar is a friendly, beautiful little town, and wherever we turned people were helpful and happy to make your time special. The Hanse House (in English - don't know why) fits therefore right in: There are the little extras like the modern bicycles for just €15/day, a common / business meeting room with comfy sofas and free tea. Breakfast is standard and absolutely ok, but if you want something romantic and a bit special head to Cafe Glücklich, or for a nightcap around the corner micro - brewery...
