Tourist Guide
Negril showing boating and a beach
This little town on Jamaica's western coast may be small, but a wide range of attractions, both natural and man-made, mean you'll never be bored.

The small resort town of Negril on Jamaica's western shore is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike thanks to the diverse range of attractions that it offers. The historic lighthouse, vibrant nightlife, exotic wildlife, natural wetlands and beautiful coastline give you plenty to do during your stay.Situated on the westernmost tip of Jamaica, Negril is a sleepy beach town by day but, once night falls, the clubs and restaurants on the boulevards along the beach come alive with revellers. The stunning Seven Mile Beach and towering cliffs are among the town's main attractions. During the day, stroll along the white sands and take a dip in the shallow, clear water. You might even catch sight of a stingray or other such tropical sea life if you pack a snorkel.Sip a refreshing cocktail or local coffee at the café above Pirate's Cave as you watch the daredevil cliff jumpers. Nature lovers are extremely well catered for as the town is surrounded by wetlands that are home to dozens of species of rare bird and reptiles. The Royal Palm Reserve wetlands are especially popular with bird watchers as they contain a stunning array of birds including Jamaican woodpeckers, ospreys, sea hawks, egrets, and endangered Jamaican black parakeets. The Great Morass at the end of the beach is where to go to spot one of the island's most endangered and fearsome creatures, the Jamaican crocodile.Continue your trip with a visit to the Hanover Museum on the town's north side to learn all about the town's slave trading past before taking a photo at the 1894 lighthouse, which you can also tour for a small charge. Norman Manley Boulevard is home to a number of boutique clothes shops while Negril Craft Market is the best place to pick up some souvenirs of your trip. After sunset, head to Seven Mile Beach where you'll find everything from beach-side jazz to Bob Marley-themed pub crawls. Negril is in Westmoreland, less than two hours from the airport in Montego Bay, and the town's compact size makes it easy to tour on foot or by taxi.
