Lough Eske Castle

10/10 Excellent

"The property is unique in that it’s a very old castle turned into a hotel. The grounds are meticulously maintained, and the rooms have contemporary amenities while maintaining an historical ambiance. The lounge served excellent food for lunch and dinner, with an absolutely delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding that is sure to impress Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry!❤️❤️ The breakfast is excellent with ample buffet and à la carte selections. The staff is VERY courteous, considerate, and helpful! Excellent 11am historical tour. Beautiful grounds for walking/hiking. Highly recommend staying here!"

"Our stay was perfect. The Tara hotel staff were so friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was always piping hot. The buffet was excellent too. Rooms were very comfortable. Very spacious. We had a Juliet balcony which looked out over the Killybegs harbour. The food in the restaurant was excellent too. We ate there a couple of nights. Don’t forget to go the the wee bar downstairs it is a real treat. So much to see. They have live music on many nights of the week but you can’t hear any noise from the rooms. Thoroughly recommend this hotel."

"The room was nicely appointed but uncomfortably warm due to time of year. A fan was provided but only gives little help and was noisy. Lighter TOG bedding would be helpful in the summer months. Food in the evening was nice but the menu could be a little more expansive when guests are staying several nights. Breakfast was good but not exceptional. The lack of onsite parking is a minor drawback but as charges are relatively cheap in the nearby public car park this is not a serious issue. The staff were very helpful."
