Surrounded by magnificent mountains along the Nord-Trøndelag coast, Namsos can be found at the heart of Namsenfjorden. Keen anglers may be tempted to visit the Namsen River, which runs through several municipalities and is a popular spot for salmon fishers. Fishermen travel here from all of Europe. Historically, the timber industry has been crucial to Namsos and a museum, Norsk Sagbrukmuseum, was established in 1991 in one of the old timber mills. It is a part of the Museet Midt museum, which has several departments.
