LA PUNTA PARADISE

This place is wonderful. The staff was awesome, the location was perfect. Watching the birds catch fish while the sun sets was incredible. The breakfast was delicious. The lake is feet from the hotel and the shore was covered with shells. LA Punta is a very short walk down the road ,it has restaurants and shops. The water is warm ,you can walk out from the shore 50 meters and be in knee deep. The island of ometepe is most beautiful with the two volcanos towering next to you. The resident parrots were so cool. Sitting out on the veranda you could see the Masada volcano across the lake. The pool was a welcome relief from the sun and the poolside bar was a nice touch. To sum up beautiful, relaxing and refreshing. beautiful and relaxing.

Nice and quiet hotel with friendly staff

Hotel is a bit isolated, outside Moyogalpa, but the island seems pretty safe (besides the cows, horeses and pigs crossing the roads) so it's not really an issue. Its a recent eco-friendly building, using solar panels for the electricity (but still offering A/C in the rooms), with a magnificent view on the lake (looking southwest) with a great sunset at this time of the year (March). Rooms are clean, new and bed is comfy (if you like harder beds, which is usually better in hot temperatures). Bathroom is clean. We found 2 small spiders in the bathroom and one in the bedroom, but I guess there's no real way to avoid that in that area and this hotel standard is likely above others in the same price range on the island.

Get lulled to sleep by waves

The views are absolutely stunning. You can hear the waves on the lake from the bedroom. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Water only goes to warm (not hot) but that is typicall in this area. The food was very good. As vegans, we had to order off menu, but the hosts were happy to oblige with some gallo pinto, tostones and vegetables. Know that this hotel is a 10 minute car ride from anywhere, so if you leave the hotel it won’t be walking. Overall amazing experience.
