Also, be aware that the food at the hotel restaurant is extremely salty. However, that seems to be a common theme throughout Portugal, except in the Douro Valley region for some reason."

"This is an extraordinary place just like the photo. I was greeted with sparkling wine and cake and offered the whole bottle the following day. It is in a very challenging place in old Coimbra so you need to be reasonably fit although another lovely lady walking her dog helped me out the next night when i was lost"
