Such an amazing place - an oasis, really. The expansive waterside lounging area is incredible. The dock with access to Kayak/paddle-boards makes enjoying the Russian River SO easy. The restaurant and bar are just perfect and the staff are so nice it feels like you’re staying at your cool, rich friend’s house on the river.

We had such a wonderful time. There really was no need to leave the hotel. Lots of outdoor space, the dock was perfect for a float or hanging out watching the sunset. Food was impeccable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the piano bar was a wonderful way to cap off the night.

Our room was very clean, I always pull of the sheets back at every hotel and check thoroughly. It’s the cleanest hotel I’ve seen in a long time. The views were gorgeous, we were here during off season so we missed the river amenities but it was gorgeous. We stayed in the garden suite with a full bed, plenty of room and was very nice, heater and fan was included in the room. My only complaint was that there was no plug in, in the bathroom and there were no other mirrors in the room, so it made it a bit hard to straighten my hair. But this is a very minor issue to an absolutely GORGEOUS stay. Staff was very friendly and offered several things to do in the area as well as took an interest in our plans.

The internet service was spotty during our stay (which they admitted was a problem and they were fixing it). This is the main reason I gave only 4 stars. Otherwise, I really love the place. The location on the water is great. The restaurant, when open, is also great.

Great property, give it a 4.5. Location is amazing and the grounds are beautiful, lots of chairs, blankets, fire rings, nooks. Right on the river with its own dock. Staff and manager are super welcoming and friendly (with the exception of one). Breakfast is continental style--coffee, tea, milk, juice, fruit, bread, muffin, cereal, yogurt. It might be nice if it started earlier than 9 am for those of us getting an early start on the day. Room was small as others have said but quite enough, bath was good, bed comfy. Only reason for 4.5 not a 5 was that I did expect daily towel service for the price. Great stay and I would definitely book again!

The back area by the river was very nice and relaxing. The way the staff did not communicate was not very helpful. The room was very tacky with the ugly furniture colors-the online pictures are deceiving. The scone by the side of the bed would not turn off so we had a light in all night. The coffee maker didn’t work. There was no information about checkout time of when breakfast was served. I had asked the bartender the night before he stated he had no idea all of the staff went home.

Great Stay in Monte Rio

Our check-in host was wonderful and friendly. She recommended a nearby german restaurant for dinner which well exceeded our expectations. Bartender could have been a bit more friendly or engaging, but perhaps he was having an off day.

The place is very relaxing. The view of the river and the hills is beautiful. The hotel and the open spaces are very well maintained and a good mix between modern and quaint. All the hotel staff are very warm and helpful. We would definitely want to go again.

It's a beautiful riverside property with a private dock. Really lovely stay and the staff were so nice. The room was definitely smaller than you'd expect, but this is more of a boutique hotel. There's lot of chairs and loungers so you can can have a drink and relax with the beautiful view.

Room smelled of sewage. The bathroom was very small with a sliding door. We got the room because we saw a jacuzzi/spa in the listing, but it wasn’t running. Bummer! The speak easy was very cool though and the included breakfast was a plus.
