"I don’t even know where to start with River Bend Casino, other than to say I will never be back.
We arrived around 8 PM after scoring what seemed like a great deal on Hotels.com. That should’ve been our first clue. The place is literally in the middle of nowhere, so you’d think they’d at least make sure guests can eat. Nope.
By shortly after 9 PM, every food option was essentially shut down. The main restaurant was closed, and the deli refused new orders because a bus had just arrived. So… what exactly are hotel guests supposed to do? Just go hungry? No 24-hour café, no backup plan, nothing.
To her credit, the girl at the deli was kind and tried to help, telling us to come back in about 20 minutes. We waited closer to 30, finally placed our order, and then sat there… and sat there… and sat there. Our pager never went off. No updates, no communication.
Meanwhile, we literally watched the cook walk out like he quit mid-shift. Unreal.
When I finally went back to the counter, we were casually told, “Oh yeah, he made your food right before he left.” Good to know, would’ve been nice if anyone bothered to tell us. Thankfully it was still warm, but at that point it felt more like luck than service.
After that disaster, we hit the slot machines, which wiped us out faster than the restaurant disappeared. So much for salvaging the night.
The room itself was decent, but it’s not nearly enough to make up for the complete lack of basic hospitality and poor communication. "
