"This place is so unique and beautiful but there were also so many small annoyances. Our rating reflects the disparity between our expectations booking a boutique resort that touts offering a luxury experience (at a much higher than average price point for the area) and the actual experience we had. Pros: The grounds are beautiful and appear as shown in the photos. The staff is polite, friendly, and attentive. The theming of the resort is unique with elements including the rooms themselves designed to mimic bird’s nests as also reflected in the name of the restaurant (Nido is nest in Spanish), and the naming of each room after a local bird. K’u also means nest in the Mayan language. The design blends nicely into the local environment. The food that we had from the restaurant was good with the chef and kitchen staff at dinner doing a particularly good job with the food and presentation. The cleanliness of the rooms and facilities was generally very good with exceptions noted below. Cons: Here we will itemize our long list of small annoyances. Extra costs: There is a “no external food or drink” policy at the resort. Onsite food and drink costs that were considerably higher than average. The drinks in particular were expensive. If you bring outside alcohol the resort charges a $500 peso uncorking fee to have it on property. It should also be noted that my husband’s coffee was consistently brought to him at room temperature. This menu item was listed at almost $7.00 CA"

"Hotel has potential but is very tired. Shower is good, bed is fine, fridge in the room is great, pool is clean. No English spoken, had to change rooms because of boiler problem, lost electricity twice although not sure if it was just the hotel or more widespread. Hotel very overpriced for what you get. Old tiles, no plug in sink, marks on walls etc. just needs a redue. Worst part..I was the only guest in the entire place ! Never had that happen before, kind of creepy. Staff was very nice."

"Room was clean. Staff was friendly. Make sure you bring lots of insect spray and you must have a vehicle. There are no dishes, coffee maker or utensils in the room but the restaurant is amazing! Thanks to Manuel!"

"Eduardo, the home owner, Pastor and his son Jose Gabriel were all so welcoming, accommodating and responsive to our stay. The home and property was absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Every room was beautifully appointed and beyond thoughtful with lighting, amenities and thoughtful details throughout. We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to returning. "The condo was across the street from the beach. The beach was not as depicted in the pictures. No private beach access. We had to go up several blocks to the boardwalk for public beach access. Instructions on how to access the WiFi and TV could have been communicated better. TV was reported not working but was not corrected during our 7 day stay. The electricity went off for 1 morning and management did respond quickly but was instructed to only use one burner on the stove. Washer was very loud and no dryer. The sewer did smell from the bathroom sink, no toilet seat on second bathroom. Only a pair of towels for each bathroom. Too much light coming through the blinds at night. The master AC would freeze up at night. Not enough hot water. Good for one hot shower. I was disappointed with the condo."

"A nice new place to stay in Telchac. Very local Mexican little town. Great clean beach nearby. The pool in this hotel was dirty with sunscreen floating Too bad because the rest of the hotel is really nice, quaint, beautiful decor and very clean . They have bkfast , basic , but no bar or other meals..staff is super nice . ."

"The property was not as it shows online. The resort was totally empty except for us. The security guard checked us in. Although they were empty, they put us on the fourth floor with no elevator. The staff that we did see over our stay were incredibly helpful and accommodating. The restaurant wasn’t open and the pools were not clean. Maybe it was off season, I don’t know. The staff is the only redeeming factor."
