This hotel looks clean and nice in the photos, but it is not. We found a cockroach in the bathroom on the first night of our stay, the chair in our room had discolored dirty spots, stains and spills on the arm and cushion; the hot tub was broken the entire stay as well as the pool down for maintenance, the sprinkler in our room was not even attached to the wall. They apparently re-branded as well, which was reflected nowhere when we booked. On the website, the hotel was named “Amerivu” but in person, “Country Inn & Suites” was the name of the hotel. I would not recommend to anyone, this was not as advertised and was dirty. For $220 for 2 night stay, take your money elsewhere.

The was no signage on the exterior of the building. Not a car in the lot.(Wednesday) so the place looked abandoned. It was open, clean quiet room. The pool and hot tub were not available as advertised.

The fan didn't work in the bathroom in the room, the little fridge turned everything frozen. Otherwise everything was good. They have a awesome breakfast in the morning.

Dirty. The bed was covered in hair, the hot tub was broken, the sink and tub were dirty, the chair in the room had stains of all colors, the toilet was broken. Absolutely will NEVER come back.

This is a hotel "on the brink" of decline, it seems. The facility is kept clean; but there's definite deeper maintenance/upkeep issues happening here. Hot tub was out of commission; and sinks/toilets were showing their age with corrosion -- If these items aren't given prompt attention; this hotel won't be around long.

The shower head doesn't have water pressure/shower valve runs only Hot water, the furniture is not matching, outdated, bedframe and nightstand is cut into the wall for whatever reason, too big for the space maybe? The beds are so uncomfortable felt like I slept on a sheet of plywood. Toilet paper holder is old and broken and damaged on the wall as well as the roll holder itself. Come on guys, they cost a few dollars to replace them. The website said breakfast was at 6am which was why I booked it. I had to be at work by 7am . Wanted to eat before I left. They don't do breakfast til 7am! They allow pot smoking in front of the hotel entrance. I was walking through clouds of Marijuana smokers. Gross! I'm disabled and they gave me the second to the last room so I had a very long walk to get there. Dim lit hallway. Smelled like dog urine in the room. Dogs barking as I passed other rooms. My Service Dog was frantic hearing all of these huge barking sounds as we had to walk past these rooms to get to ours. I was afraid. I stayed in my room and left immediately in the morning. Told the front desk guy about the websites breakfast times being wrong. Told him how to clean the shower heads so we could get a good water flow. He said if people don't tell them they don't check things like this so they didn't know. The microwave comes unplugged cuz it's pushing against the plug on the wall the furniture used is not right for this set up. Was worried about getting electrocuted!

Don't stay in Shakopee for Renaissance Festival
We had a last minute reservation and didn't even think of the Renaissance Festival. But Shakopee was a convenient location. The room cost was over $225 and the room was filthy. Bathroom floor was sticky, room smelled like cigarette smoke, never checked the sheets. We asked for another room, and it was cleaner, but the ceiling was peeling in the bathroom and toilet was worn and cracked. The bed was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a joke. Definitely not up to Country Inn and Suites caliber.

I feel bad to write this, but…gotta be honest. The front desk people weren’t very friendly, the bathroom fan in my room was broken, I was given a “2 double beds” room instead of the “2 queen beds” room I had reserved, the room’s air conditioning unit barely poured out air, and no matter what buttons we pushed nothing changed…and it got rather warm. The hot tub had a super weird problem about the jets turning on. Ya do what you can to figure it out, then just be really excited when they turn on lol (there was a sign to “be patient”. Lastly the breakfast wasn’t sooo bad(?), but the eggs tasted a little watery (and saw staff pick some eggs that fell on the side tray up with bare hands to place back in heated tray), coffee a little watered down, but otherwise enjoyed the many choices and especially the cute pancake machine. I wouldn’t stay here again, amongst choices and feeling overpriced after all that, but not the worst experience ever by far!

The check in was easy and staff was friendly. The building was older and dated. Some areas had fresh paint. Staff did their best to keep facility clean. I witnessed staff cleaning facilities throughout the stay. The room was confined/small. The beds were firm and linens were clean. ( I pulled all sheets from bed to check for the unspeakable ) The room was appropriately cleaned. It was listed as accommodating 5 people. Our family of four was crowded in room. I would recommend bringing your own shower gel, shampoo, conditioner. The hotel provided one bar of soap, small shampoo and conditioner. How would a family of four clean hands and body with one small bar of soap for two days?! My son asked for another bar of soap. The desk staff informed him that they were out of soap. Thankfully I bring my own supplies. My family smelled of roses and cucumbers. My daughter and I didn’t mind feminine scents… Husband and son were not happy. Breakfast quality was poor. It consisted of scrambled eggs (husband called them powdered eggs) biscuits, and sausage gravy. The biscuits tasted fresh. The sausage gravy was a synthetic manufactured powder variety. The waffle maker was a hit with the kids. They were out of regular syrup. The kids used the sugar free syrup and it upset their stomach. Typically we use real maple syrup. I would classify my family as easy going/ not overly picky. Overall I would stay again. The price was right and it was close to Valleyfair.

We are not pleased with this hotel. They got us with a $55 fee per night for having a dog. Advertising a double queen bed as 5 person, but rollaway bed is extra. Late checkout was $25/hr. The breakfast was gross and they almost gave up our room even thought we arranged a late checkout. We had to argue with the front desk before they would honor the late checkout arranged.
