This place is more affordable than anywhere else. It’s very basic. You get what you pay for. There is no stove or microwave available, and they try to ration the toilet paper. Excellent value for those who are willing to walk down the hall to shared bathrooms.

The location of the hostel is amazing the hostel it’s self is terrible dirty it’s say daily room cleaning never had mine cleaned one very noisy beds are broken the main door is looked with a bit wood jamming it at night not secure at all the socket’s are dangerous sparks every to em you put your charger in got a shock a one point plz stay away from this hostel no social distance at all not heath and safety what so ever please stay away

It’s fair by the price, clean and according to what looks in the photos The place is not exactly private, neither shared completely. A lot of noise because of the families, shared bathrooms, not exactly the best options considering the number of guest

This place is awful and I am EXTREMELY surprise that Expedia supports business like this. I have traveled the world and I understand there are different types of places (prices, starts ratings, locations,etc) and I am a very easy going and flexible person but there are things that I consider basic. I arrived to the hotel and they told me that they didn't have space for me even though I had a paid reservation. They acknowledge that but the only argument they had was: we are sorry but we have sold the room (I guess again). After I insisted, they put me in a place that I can't even consider a room. It was a super small, ugly, humid, dirty place with a small bed and guess what! FULL OF MOSQUITOS. This is just a summary of a horrible experience. Mexico City has lovely affordable places. Please don't choose this one.

I've seen a few reviews with 1/5 ratings... My experience was great. The bed was very comfortable, the staff very helpful and the overall running if the place was good. I saw a few reviews saying about Mexicans living there. When I read the reviews it seemed like they were homeless, but they weren't, so my advice to that is if it upsets you to be around Mexicans... Don't come to Mexico City because you will see a lot of them 😱. The only thing is the shower. They take a long time to heat up, but they are cool (not cold). Anyways, I've had worse! Would I use this hostel again? Damn right I would

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
This review is as much about hotels.com as it is about this horrible place. Every single photo on the site is a LIE. There is NO WiFi, there is NO breakfast, there are NO towels, NO soap, NO bottles of water. Every single photo is a lie. And they give you the runaround when you call to complain. I actually paid extra for what looked like a delicious breakfast, but no one even KNEW about breakfast and just offered for go buy me something at an extra charge, even when I showed them my reservation that I had paid for breakfast. If you ask for a towel they said, the women with the towels is coming later, but I think two days is too long to wait. I actually left and went somewhere else, which I have NEVER done before. SO avoid this place, and perhaps avoid hotel.com, I am going to cancel the other reservations I have with them because of their lousy handling of this issue.

What a terrible experience. I can't comment on the room or facilities because I never made it that far. I reserved and paid for a room before I left for my trip. Despite it saying on Expedia that check in time is until 11pm, and that the room is guaranteed to be reserved until 12 midnight, when I arrived at 8:30pm I was told that they didn't have a room for me because the reservation "expires" at 7pm, and they had given my room to someone else. Absolutely ludacris. At least the guy at the desk was nice enough to let me use the wifi to find another place to stay and gave me directions.

The location is right in the heart of downtown, close to everything including metro. Room as very hot, almost no air circulation, noisy, pillow case was worn out with holes in it. No real social area, very very basic overall.

My recent stay at Zocalo Hostel
Central location closed to everything & very budget. This IS NOT a real hostel most of the rooms renting out to the locals. No English speaking at all for check-in @ front desk and it is not 24hr the door is closed and locked around 10pm-11pm. The 3 bathrooms are extremely dirty, smelled horrible and NO HOT WATER @ certain time in a day. This hostel is very filthy and very insecure because of a lot of locals living here. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE THERE ARE A LOT OF HOTELS/HOSTELS IN ZOCALO AREA

In historic area
Sewer smell, hear everything. People talking late.&It is not a real hostel. Only shabby partitions. People smoking. My room had a window opening but no window. Nasty, filthy shower. Sinks in hallway. Only use if desperate. Had 1 night and hardly slept. This place should not be open.

Pésimo , de todo a todo ,quería confirmar mi llegada y nunca me contestaron mi llamada , al llegar no tenía mi cuarto como expedía me confirmó , me daban solo un cuarto con una cama individual , y reservé para dos personas , había niños jugando por todas partes incluso dentro de la recepción y la persona de recepción no estaba los niños tenían q llamarle para atender , tuve q solicitar me enviaran a otro hotel q es de ellos mismos , y tuve q hacerlo caminando por mis propios medios cansados tuvimos q caminar hasta el otro lugar , al llegar ahí me dieron una cama matrimonial , el lugar igual de sucio lleno de gente por todos lados obstruyendo escaleras pues estaban sentados conversando , y no dejaban pasar , lleno de inmigrantes descorteces, se q por el precio no tendríamos buenas expectativas , pero esto rebasa en demasía , sucio , mucho ruido , calor , y no había y nunca hubo wifi., absolutamente nada de lo q expedía y el lugar ofrece , cumplío total fraude por llamarlo de alguna manera , jamás volveré , y Expedía MX es mi última vez q reservó atraves de ustedes Gracias ,De nada.

Llegué y con la novedad que no había habitación me dejaron en la vil calle que porque a ellos no les aparecía mi reserva y supuestamente vestaban llenos, no entiendo porque lugares como estos de ostentan hotel hostal o lo que sea pésimo no lo recomiendo no gratis la experiencia más horrible , no lo usen debería haber penalización por esto

No entiendo cómo Expedia trabaja con este tipo de lugares. Justo el día de la reservación llegué para alojarme y me dijeron que no había lugar. A cambio ofrecieron darme alojamiento en Alameda House, que está más retirado. Al comentar que incluìa desayuno, las irresponsables del lugar sólo se rieron de mi y no supieron decirme que hace años no se incluyen desayunos, por lo que en la página ofrecen cosas falsas. Pagué en efectivo para que me apartaran mi reservación en Alameda House porque iba a llegar tarde pero seguro, a lo cual accedieron y me cobraron, comunicándose con el encargado del otro lugar para avisarle. Cuando llegué a dicho lugar, me salió el empleado en turno con que no le habían comentado nada y no tuvo lugar para mí. Esto ocurrió cerca de las 11 de la noche, hora en la que contaba con llegar a descansar y en en la cual debí buscar alojamiento de urgencia. No se vale que se les haga fácil simplemente decir que no hay lugar, sin resolver su ineptitud. La actitud socarrona de las tipas a cargo, me hace pensar que esto ya lo sabìan desde el inicio. Eso habla de la calidad de su servicio y del poco compromiso del que los promociona. Definitivamente no ha seriedad.
