Good, could be better

Good location Clean and warm Overall good. Bring extra toilet paper and dishwasher powder if you are staying more than a couple of days as only 3 loo rolls and a small amount of powder is supplied and not replaced during your stay. Shackleton restaurant had excellent staff and nice food but wouldn’t go there again unless they can fix the smoke coming into the restaurant from the fire place. We felt like we had smoked a packet of cigarettes, our clothes smelled and eyes burned. Felt sorry for the staff working there. There is a thick black stain above the fire place that suggests this has been going for some time. The data allowance of 300mb per day is lousy. Other similar/ lower priced properties would provide unlimited good quality internet access at no extra charge and top ups of loo roll and other basic essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, dishwashing liquid and powder. All that said these were minor annoyances and we would stay there again.

Nice Stay But OverRated

We stayed here for 4 nights and weren't that impressed for the price we paid . Nice rooms , but could have got somewhere just as good for less than we paid .It was looking quite run down and needs a bit of a freshen up. The restaurant was closed and that was part of the reason why we stayed there, as its very highly recommended. We ran out of milk on the morning we were leaving and went to reception to see if we could get a small amount for our coffee and was flatly refused and was told we are a resort not a hotel So we won't be back

The mattresses need upgrading, we stayed there a few years ago , they are the same , soft. Also the Restaurant was too expensive for us to go too.

Great accomodation for a weekend of skiing

We come to Methven every year to ski and this was our first time staying at the Brinkley. Close to town, clean and comfortable unit. Would stay again.

Loved the location, friendly staff and overall setup. Some minor improvements required..devils in the detail - no bin in the bathroom, extra toiletries and towels would’ve been great (given that we were 4 and stayed for 4 nights).

Very outdated resort with rooms that are tiny. Felt very cramped. Bathroom small with no bin. Awkward small stairs to reach our room which were hard navigating with a big suitcase. The free wifi was a coupon that lasted us 30 minutes! Even hostels and bars give better free wifi for streaming video content online. Fine for one night but I was hoping for better. However, good location for easy access to local shops and bars.

When is a resort not a resort?

Brinkley is not a resort. The restaurant was fantastic (and expensive) and this is clearly where all the effort goes. The studio room is tiny - there is no where to out a suitcase. The bathroom had mould around the windows, there was pink sticky stuff on the blanket, dust on the pillow, and lots of condensation in the room. Not a healthy environment at all. We will try somewhere (anywhere) else in Methven next time.
