Unlike a lot of the more affordable hotels, The Celecton it is very well maintained. The outside may not look like much but the inside has a welcoming decor. While the rooms have wood-textured wallpaper, it does not look tacky and is well done to give the impression of real wood, which also has welcoming feel to it. I stayed in a single room that was comparatively spacious, even the bed would comfortably sleep two.
Due to my short stay, I was not able to check out the amenities but they looked fine. As for the staff, they were very friendly and helpful. Even with no Japanese language skills, they are able to explain the important things in English.
The only downside may be that the hotel is located 10-15mins walk from the main Matsumoto station, although there is another station that's closer. The upside to the hotel's location is that it's 5mins away from Matsumoto castle and about 10mins from Matsumoto Kaichi High School.
Overall enjoyed my stay there, especially for the price. I would stay there again.
