Afon Rhondda Fach The river has come down from the Lluest-wen Reservoir, the dam of which can be seen just below the skyline. A road from the reservoir follows the north bank. In the foreground is Pont Lluest-wen, carrying footpaths but not vehicles across the river.

Lluest-wen Reservoir At the head of the reservoir would have been where a number of streams met to form the embryonic Afon Rhondda Fach.

Near Twyn y Bloedd The map shows the forest as being all conifer. But in this part there are many broad-leaved trees.
