Fuencarral Travel Guide

Madrid

A cityscape with modern apartment buildings, a road, and distant mountains under a cloudy sky.

With a holiday in Fuencarral, you’ll have the chance to explore Madrid from one of the neighbourhoods that has best preserved its original villa personality.

Fuencarral was an independent town, or villa, until it was annexed by Madrid in 1950, into the Fuencarral-El Pardo district. It’s the ideal place to settle down, far from the hustle and bustle of the big city, as it is the largest green lung in the capital, thanks to the hills of Pardo and Soto de Viñuelas.

At Expedia, we offer cheap trips to Fuencarral so you can get the chance to explore a magnificent district just a stone's throw from Madrid's famous shopping district, with architectural jewels such as El Pardo Palace, one of the royal family's residences. You’ll be able to visit a host of monuments built around the palace by the Spanish monarchy: it includes outstanding buildings, such as the Casita del Príncipe, conceived as a leisure palace for King Carlos IV, or the convent of the Capuchin Fathers, which is home to a carving of the Recumbent Christ that dates back to the 17th century. Not far from here is the Palace of La Zarzuela, and though it cannot be visited, you can certainly enjoy the park that surrounds it.

Make the most of the package deals to Fuencarral and discover the town’s authentic spirit. You should definitely try to coincide your stay with the Procession of the Virgin of Valverde, which takes place on 25 April. An interesting fact: the neighbourhood has a traditional outfit that many young women of the district still don. Don't miss your chance to stroll around the neighbourhood and stop in front of the Casa Grande, located on Calle de Nuestra Señora de Valverde, a stately building from the mid-17th century.

Discover the best deals for flights plus hotel to Fuencarral and lock in the best price. The Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport is just 9 miles away. The district also has a metro station and a suburban train station, so it couldn’t be easier to get around. Enjoy the peace and quiet just a short distance from the centre of Madrid!
