Absolutely worthy of a 5 star review. In additional to the immaculate grounds, superb food, amenities such as the fire pits, hammocks; I loved the little daily activities. The garden tour by Todd was wonderful. It is so obvious that the staff take great pride in their work. This translates into a willingness to go that extra mile to ensure a top-notch vacation experience. After reading previous reviews, I thought it wasn’t possible to exceed expectations. I was pleasantly wrong.
Beautiful, well maintained facility frequently used for wedding venues. The grounds are absolutely spectacular. The rooms are extremely well done with high quality furniture and comfortable beds. One potential disadvantage for overnight guests, if you're not in a wedding party, it takes about 45 minutes via carriage to and from the ferry terminal.
One of the best experiences at a hotel ever. From the staff, to the grounds, it was an 11/10
I loved the chickens as well. Thanks for an amazing experience
The property is very beautiful and relaxing they offer free carriage rides when you arrive and when departing however if you go anywhere else on the island it cost $11 person one way. This property is a 30-45 minute carriage ride to town. I feel with the cost to stay at this property they should include rides to and from town. When we arrived they took our luggage up to the property so we could stay in town however when we wanted a ride to the resort the carriage for the property was nowhere to be found I called them to send a carriage and waited no one showed up we ended up paying for a taxi which was $11 per person. I also had received an email for a complimentary upgrade to my reservation, when we checked in I showed them the email and was told they had nothing available but I could pay for an upgrade. Beautiful property and I would recommend staying here just beware of the extra cost for carriage rides but you can rent a bike or walk.
Jacob the massage therapist was excellent. Our waiter the in the pizza pavilion the first night was not so great. The facility is amazing and you did a great job with the property update!
The property was remote to the town, for those who want seclusion it is great, however the $ 11 ride per person each way seemed excessive for such a property. The front staff did not answer the phone prior to 8:30 am on 3 mornings. We walked from our room which was in another building, to the desk to find no one. To call each time for ice, missing items on room service tray, for door handle which “fell off”, iron and ironing board (not in room), a lack of front desk staff decreased our vacation time and created stressed. The room did not have handed cap bars in the bathroom, although it was stated as one. Also the lack of a sink in the bathroom was weird, as there was a cabinet for one. No sink required one to exit the bathroom cross the room to the sink with dirty hands. This building had been recently renovated! It was not worth the cost.
This resort is absolutely stunning in every capacity. The property, restaurants, rooms, staff, the extra attention to all details is exceptional. We’ve stayed three times, and continue to make this our annual trip each year for the beauty, hospitality, peace and joy this resort offers.
Stone Cliff is about a half hour walk or carriage ride away from downtown Mackinac. It is a stunning property will great views of the Mackinac Straits and Lake Huron. Sunset Rock is also located on the property. Great place to go to catch a sunset. (If the weather is nice) The property is very clean and well maintained. The staff is very kind and helpful. The room we stayed in had recently been renovated new and was great. Had two balconies, both with water views. Rooms are cleaned and serviced daily. It is a 5 star hotel so it's pricey to stay there. But, you'll pay a price to stay anywhere on Mackinac Island. Only thing I have to critique is that dinner service was very slow. However, breakfast service was perfect. No complaints.
All in all, we would definitely consider staying at Stone Cliff again. Hopefully, the weather will be nicer next time so we can actually catch a sunset and use the pools.
This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed at, with incredible views of the Mackinac Bridge and the Straits. And somehow, the staff tops the hotel. This staff, most notably Hallie, went out of their way to make our visit for our 30th anniversary special, including having a special cheesecake made by the head chef at the Straits Restaurant for the occasion. Just top notch! In addition, the grounds are gorgeous, restaurants are so good (loved the wood-fire pizza at the Backyard!), and the setting just will never be topped. I've stayed at many elite hotels across the world, but this visit was the best one I've ever had. Could not recommend more.
We accidentally left a backpack in our room on our checkout day. Only realized this when our carriage already left for the dock. The hotel has an excellent direct texting communication system with their guest. I sent a text and explained what happened. They sent someone to grab the backpack from the room and sent it to the next carriage going to the dock. We got our backpack in Mackinaw City! Talk about customer service!!
The property is so gorgeous and dreamy. You guys are amazing! Great service! Great food! Great staff! Landscaping maintained to perfection and scenic views!
We will be back! Thank you Stonecliffe!!
A spectacular hidden gem on Mackinac Island in Michigan…!
Keep in mind:
1 - The Inn at Stonecliffe is “a-la-carte”
2 - Carriage rides are 45 mins to & from Stonecliffe because the horses get two or three travel breaks (rest, water or trade)
3 - Carriage rides are only free for arrivals and departures. ($11 one-way, per adult for a ride to Main Street)
4 - Organized activities are complementary
5 - Their two pools are NOT heated ;)
The Inn at Stonecliff is a beautiful building in a park like setting. The attention to detail, from the room to the grounds, is amazing. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and never fails to offer ‘service with a smile’. Treat yourself.
My family really enjoyed our stay. We had a milestone birthday and an anniversary and they did something special for both events. The landscaping was absolutely beautiful and the service throughout our stay was top notch. The cleanliness of the room and the food were both also great. Would recommend to anyone and we are definitely going back.
Some of the indoor servers acted like we were bothering them when we were waiting to be seated. The Backyard staff was great and friendly. The indoor staff were not friendly. We are on an island so I did not bring dress clothes. It felt like we were ignored because of our attire. Not the island vibe we like. The Backyard was a super place to be…island vibe for sure.
We liked the place but we’re glad to spend one day there instead of the full stay. Some place near or in downtown is great to experience more food/entertainment options on the island. This is a bit far. It’s great if you want all your stay to be mostly like a resort stay.
