This property is only accessible by boat. The property offers shuttle service from the airport (surcharge) to the pier, and private speedboat transfers from the airport to Maafushi for USD 185 one-way, or USD 333 round trip. Guests must book airport and/or private boat transfers in advance. Public ferry service from Male to Maafushi is also available at 3 PM for USD 2 per person (1.5 hour trip), returning to Male at 7:30 AM; there is no ferry service on Fridays.
The additional fee (payable at the property) covers mandatory one-way shuttle transfer fees for guests ages 9-17.

As someone who has worked in 5* properties internationally, I was unsure of what to expect but I needn't have been concerned. From Hasan greeting us on arrival, through the spotless rooms and friendly staff to the departure the stay was great. We are already looking to book for next year. One tip; some of the room balconies look inward so ask for an exterior view.

Avoid the Economy Rooms
This review is a bit complicated. We booked the economy option (or whatever it was called) – the option that is not in the main building. The room that we had kept having some of the power going out. Basically, it was the fuse or something for the card that keeps the main lights and air conditioning going. It went out the night we arrived, and someone reset the fuse. It went out again during the night, so I reset it in the morning after waking up hot. Someone at the front desk said it would be fixed. Allegedly someone came, but the problem persisted. On the last night, they moved us to one of the main rooms. Now this room was fantastic! It was way, way, way superior to the economy room. I highly recommend avoiding the economy rooms and booking in the main building. On another positive note, the staff are very friendly.
