"The hotel is set in lovely countryside and the building has great character. There is plenty of parking available too. The hotel is situated next to a golf course for those who enjoy the game.
Our room was clean and nicely decorated although the air conditioning unit was inefficient. The hotel has its own indoor pool which is welcome when you have travelled a long way in high temperatures. I was contacted by the hotel prior to our arrival saying that guests must bring their own towels to use the pool! However, when we arrived, we were told that we could use our room towels.
Other messages from the hotel asked if we wanted breakfast and an evening meal. We informed them that we did and reserved a time of 7.30pm for the meal. Despite replying, they did not know that we had requested breakfast or the meal. Luckily, they could still fit us in. Communications are not reliable!! If they are going to send out messages, they need to read the replies!
The evening meal was excellent. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. However, breakfast was normal, ‘run of the mill’ and we were bombarded by wasps. More should be done to protect the food from them as eating breakfast was not fun.
Finally, there was some difference between the original price we were quoted by Hotel.com and what we were charged on leaving the hotel. My print out clearly said one price for the room and they had another. Very annoying."
