"The view was amazing and walkable to beach and a great restaurant. The rooms were older but no elevators if you would need it. Chairs in room to sit outside to watch the sea and sunset. Desk clerk was not in a good mood but I suppose we all could have a bad day."

"The I young folks who work the desk are always so friendly & helpful. Clean spacious rooms. We enjoyed our view from the balcony. Dog friendly. Walking distance to the Embarcadero for food & shopping. This was our 3rd visit & we'll be back again soon!"

"Fireside inn is one of the top tier hotels on Moonstone Beach, and for the surrounding area. The excellent views, room, and staff are what makes this place tops in my opinion. It’s also centrally located for dining options, walking along the beach, and Hearst Castle, of course. It’s a very short distance to Cambria."

"Pro: The room was good sized and recently remodeled, the location is close to everything, and the staff was helpful, breakfast was included and wifi works well. Con: The toilet seat in the room was wobbly, some traffic noise from Main Street, breakfast selection was quite limited, the TV does not provide Youtube or let guests stream their own Netflix. The ceiling fan does not work."

"I really wanted to love this stay, but ultimately I did not. It's a nice property and a historic site. Beautiful grounds and right outside Cambria. Two to three minute drive. A five-minute walk if you want to use a steep, long staircase. Food was good. The lounge is nice, but the entertainment varies. The service was terrible. I requested someone to come and lift the Murphy bed back in place. A man came, but said he could only lower it. He could not raise it. On the morning we checked out, we requested coffee from the restaurant, but that's not something the offer. I then requested more coffee for the room (it comes in packets, like tea). Nothing came, I requested again. I called four times before someone finally dropped it off shortly before checkout. I want to give them another try. It's a unique experience with nice, if rustic, accommodations. But I'll go with a more self-sufficient mindset. Service is spotty, at best."
