Limerick Trip

The property is objectively beautiful. Well designed and tidy. Our room was large and comfortable. Unfortunately our room had issues with hot water - couldn’t take a shower for longer than 8 mins or so without it going cold. Happened three different times at three different times of the day. Housekeeping also entirely skipped our room one day which was a bit of a disappointment after coming back from a long day of walking and looking forward to crawling into a comfy, clean bed. Hotel staff were kind and greeted you, but sometimes appeared overwhelmed by the front door/valet service. High end lotions and towels. But not sure we would stay here again. Location is convenient to get over to Cambridge but not actually along any subway lines so getting into downtown was a much bigger treck than we anticipated. Ubers are approximately 30$ each way to get into downtown.

The corridor was extremely dark. During the first night, the loud noise coming from the vent kept waking me up. The following night, the air conditioning malfunctioned, making the room too hot to sleep in, so I had to change rooms in the middle of the night. Although they relocated me, no one bothered to apologize. The rest of my 3-night stay was passable, and I'd rate the room cleanliness around 4 stars. Overall, this is an average, aging hotel. It certainly doesn’t live up to a 4-star rating.

I remain impressed with the Charles Hotel. The rooms are very comfortable. The location perfect when doing things around Harvard Square. The restaurant and bars are great and the the staff very helpful. Well worth the price.
