cleaning lady was not done until almost 5 pm and the builders were using power saws and drills on the cabin the entire time we were there besides bed time. The cabin should not have been rented if it needed to be repaired while we were in it.

I found out the day before our arrival that you needed to pick up the key for the cabin at a different site 45 minutes down the road. When we arrived the water the dripping (quite loudly) from the shower head. The shower handles were very wobbly and stripped (kept turning and turning without tightening). We could not stop the drip and decided not to use the shower during our stay because we were worried the handles would break more and cause a major leak. The property advertises WIFI, but the WIFI did not connect at our cabin (#7). We also had no cell reception (ATT). Not being connected at all was challenging. The cabin did not have a smoke detector and there was an old carpet that did not lay flat and I kept tripping on it (major safety hazards!). The bathroom door did not close. The "queen" bed was tiny (double?) and had no box spring. It was like a giant camping cot and squeaked anytime someone in the bed moved. My husband and I slept terribly. We will NOT be returning.

No wi-fi, no towels, no heat (it was 37*F that night), no shower curtain, difficult check-in, and no help anywhere to be found for problems. The shower was hot and the bed was comfortable enough. It was better than camping thought. Thankfully we brought our own towels. Stay here only if you are desperate for a roof over your head, a bed, and a shower. Also over priced!!

This place is a pure desolation!
They call that a "RESORT" for $215+/night??? Maybe 40 years ago... No checking, no service, no restaurant, no toilets and no boat rentals: everything is closed without any sign!!! This place is a pure desolation: we could accept the cabins to be old but everything has to be redone: bad bedding, no kitchen sealing light, so old appliances, no hot water in kitchen and no bathroom towels! Next time we will go to the camping just a mile away with at least open toilets. Not to mentioned (not their fault) loss of power backed by diesels generator going up & down all night and the lake being drained 1 foot/day starting early August... Made at them NOT keeping this place up in such a gorgeous location :-(

There was no hand washing sink in the bathroom, we had to use shower and/or kitchen sink to brush our teeth and wash hands. They did not use fitted sheet for the bed, each time I or my husband turn the bottom linen was pulled open to mattress. Very uncomfortable.

Upon arrival. It was in the 40's there was no HEAT. I 2 tender age children with us. The cabin was full of cob webs, the stove didn't work, the doors all had air flowing through then with at least 1.5 inch gaps. There was no wifi like the amenities said there was. Nothing on the Expedia website or the Huntington Lake Resort was accurate about this property. We had to leave the very next day since there was no heat, no shower with running water and no stove to cook. I had a 19 month old and a 7 year old, their safety came first. DO NOT STAY HERE. The descriptions of this place are wrong and no one even bothered to really care or help the situation, not even the owner. I am STILL waiting for my REFUND!!!

Fun Cabin Get Away
These are cozy cabins set close to each other. If all cabins are rented . I could see parking a issue. Check in, is at a Restaurant down the road a little ways. Confused at first. It was a nice stay.

We arrived expecting a rustic cabin, but were pleasantly surprised that the cabin was in good condition. Other than a few very minor hiccups that occur in the mountains, the whole experience was terrific.

High Sierra cabins, typical of what you expect. Cleanliness could be better and some coffee with a coffee filter would have been nice. Need to notify guests to bring own towels, soap, and dishwashing liquid as well as paper towels. Rustic. And it is okay for where you are at.. it is the high Sierra's!

I really enjoy the resort the only issue was that at the entrance was a guy living in a trailer very weird, he came at to me asking for my son and told me that the night before my son told him that he kill his wife and my son not even spoke to him, my son was with us all the time.

Gorgeous but scrappy...and tiny!
Huntington Lake Resort was perfect for our getaway. We loved it because we had very low expectations after reading other reviews. We usually camp nearby but the campground was closed so we rented one of the cabins at the 'resort'. We figured anything would prob be more comfortable than tent camping. A couple of important things to know before you go: 1. Check in is at The Marina! Fortunately we read a review that mentioned you have to check in at The Marina. When we arrived no one was in the office. We walked around and finally found the 'check in' guy sitting down by the boat rentals talking on his cell phone. He was very nice and got us checked in and told us how to find our cabin. 2. Bring your own towels, sleeping bags, kitchen towels, sponge and a tablecloth (if you want to be fancy). The kitchen has very few utensils, only 2 mugs and 2 glasses (even though they rent it for 4ppl). Next time we'll make sure to bring extra cups, glasses, knives, etc. WHATEVER!! It's the mountains and gorgeous. We only needed a place to cook meals and sleep. We were there to enjoy the surroundings. The location was perfect with hiking trails next to the property and the lake right there. 2 of us could even squeeze onto the balcony and enjoy looking at the lake. It is tiny but completely fine for a fun getaway. We would definitely stay again especially if we booked early enough to get one of the larger cabins.

Rustic cabin in beautiful location
We knew from previous trips to the lake that the cabin would be very rustic so our expectations were set. The staff was friendly, check-in was easy. On arrival we were told that our cabin was still being cleaned and it would be a few minutes. When we got to the cabin, the smell in the kitchen was awful. We found a dead mouse in the rodent trap under the sink. Once we disposed of it and sprayed down the cabinet interior the smell quickly dissipated. The beds were very comfortable and the rest of our stay was lovely. We brought all our own kitchen utensils -- there were a few odd things in the kitchen, but it would have been tough to cook with what was there. It was great to have a hot shower and comfy bed to sleep in at night after a day packed with hikes, kayaking, biking and/or sailing.

Dirtiest place i have ever stayed. Rustic..sure. fine. Expected. Cob webs, the size of the dust bunnies under the bed..OMG. your feet black after taking 2 steps on the floor. Cob webs in places that should have been sanitized. No screen in the window... (mountains ..bugs..need screens). eating at the restaurant once was enough. Tables that had not been washed in what looked like years. Filthy. The lake was great. I will find another cabin for next time. Just yuck.

The lake is lovely - the resort could do a better job of telling you to check in at the Marina (not at the resort). These cabins are rustic - but clean...which is very much appreciated. We were surprised to find out that cabin #5 had bunk beds which was great since we decided to bring kids last minute. And it was very nice to open the backdoor and have a view of the lake. The cons were no towels and no coffee in the place. And the bed was pretty lumpy. For the price they could really make the experience great by providing these comforts..Do that or price it better and I’d be back.

The property location is good but the hotels.com site states that there is wifi in the cabins but there is not. Luckily we had contacted the resort directly after making the reservation and found out that we needed to bring our own towels. If you want a rustic cabin experience then this is the place. The owner is attempting to update. One of the cabins was getting repair work done.

It was a great location, but cabins could use a lot of care and cleaning. Dead flys in the window seal, refrigerator door would not stay closed, and power was off every day from about 930am-5pm. Check-in was challenging, cabins are in one location and check-in is at the marina down the street. Also, all the phone numbers provided by hotels.com and the Huntington Lake Resort webpage were non-working numbers so there was no way to get ahold of staff. When we did speak to employees it was the cleaning staff and they were very friendly. This is the perfect compromise between a fancy cabin or hotel and tent camping. It is rustic, great for kids to escape from video games and TV, lots of land to explore and the lake is beautiful!

Let's start with the positive: The staff was great, very helpful and a pleasant group. The location was awesome, view of a running stream into the lake, and walking distance to the lake and marina. Now to the negative: One of the windows was cracked and held together with tape which causes a draft. One of the heaters were broken. After a long day of fishing, we were looking forward to a nice shower but no towels are provided. The kitchen luckily had a microwave because no pots and pans are provided for the stove. The cleaning crew needs some work when it comes to wiping down counters to MOPPING. And lastly checking in was confusing, I had to ask the marina where the office is and was told to knock on cabin 1's door.

The property itself was nice (although the picture shown on the listing has a porch/ balcony, and the cabin I received didn’t. True reasons the experience wasn’t great is that the listing failed to mention that the restaurant/bar/ room service advertised wasn’t available. I was informed when i checked in that the facility closes after Labor Day, and none of the advertised amenities were available. I would have stayed in a different location closer to a restaurant/ store if I had known this. Not sure I’ll use VRBO again after this experience.

It just wasn't what it was advertised to be. Far from the lake, the restaurant was boarded up, so no food available except for the next resort 15 minutes away. Most of the cabins were boarded up and from the description of a "comfort cabin", I expected to have a deck to sit on and enjoy the lake. Nope, just some random chairs in the dirt next to a firepit. And, NO TOWELS! And nobody on site for assistance, just someone over the phone. I had to knock on another cabin door to figure out how to check in.

Lost lake resort.
It was the end of the season, but basically no service. The place was good for lake access and camping like atmosphere. Had a good fire and comfortable bed. Dont get there late and better bring food to cook and towels. Has fridge, stove, coffee maker, microwave, but only one little store about 10 minutes away. Property a little run down, but could be very nice with a little TLC.

This is a little cabin in the woods, which is exactly what we wanted. Some reviews are low, but I think it’s because they are expecting a room similar to what you would have in the city. This is rustic, but it is in the forest by a beautiful lake which makes it top notch scores for me. We had a small kitchen, beds for my small family, and a bathroom with a shower. We were able to fish and enjoy the lake, and return to the cabin to rest and eat. This was a perfect mountain getaway.

Ask for the new cabins
At first the trip was going terrible. We got double booked, and we had nowhere to sleep for the night. Jose, the cook, offered us cabins 1 and 6. Cabin 1 smelled really bad and Cabin 6 was dirty but we could sleep there for the night. The next morning we met George, he was really nice and accommodated us. He offered us a free breakfast and we got cabin 3.Cabin 3 was really comfortable since it was one of the newer cabins. If you stay here ask for the newer cabins like 3,4,10,11, or The view. Later that day Jose offered us a free boat ride on the beautiful lake and it was a pleasant experience to go and get to know him better
