Upscale hostel with available en suite rooms right on the Lake with its stunning views. Excellent, if busy, communal kitchen for those who wish to cook. Our en suite room had a Lake View and small fridge. The location is perfect. Mostly young backpacker crowd our room was quiet and comfortable.

Private room in a hostel horribly over-priced. The room was boiling on a 20-degree day in March. When we walked in there were bugs all over the ceiling because the open window had no screen, to be fair, don’t think many hotels have them in NZ. A fan was provided but it was useless, so sleeping wasn’t easy. Room was fine, very small, otherwise clean. Not our couple of tea but it was in an awesome location, great views of the lake and close to everything this fab town offers.

The most expensive night in my South Island trip ($370) including nights at the Hilton. No TV, very small room, you are requested to strip your own linen off the beds.This is a hostel, not a hotel, although Expedia the positions it as a hotel.

Parking is in a gravel shared parking lot. You have to drag your luggage across rocks to the entrance. Staff is good but not very friendly. Very close to iconic church. And the lake is right outside your window. Location location location!!!

Room was very small. Had a decent size bathroom with a very small shower. No TV (they did give a discount after we complained.) Had to get the staff to sign into wifi because it didn't work. They eventually signed us into the staff wifi. Very expensive for what you get and not worth it.

we really appreciate them, holding onto my wife’s medicine and keeping it refrigerated for her until we could retrieve it. She accidentally left it in the refrigerator. The only thing we had problems with is arriving after dark. It was very difficult to find the location. The sign on the building, almost matches the color of the building.

Fantastic !
What a fantastic spot for a short stay ! We stayed in an ensuite room- clean and functional - compact but enough for 2 nights .Excellent service, clean shared kitchen and great open spaces for work or gathering. The location is fantastic - stunning views to the lake and within walking distance to all Tekapo has to offer.

Fabulous new youth hostel
Really excellent for a youth hostel, in a stunning location on the lakeside. We had an ensuite double room, upstairs as we had requested. Clean, comfortable, with small fridge, hairdryer and kettle in the room - so didn't use the communal facilities.

Great hostel right on the lake. Lots of restaurants and food trucks right outside. Shared facilities were clean and other residents were polite and quiet. Check in closed at 8pm. The best part was that stargazing was very easily accessible.

A hostel for young people, not even close to hotel
At the time of booking, it seemed like one of the best options in the area, considering that most of the options were motels; however, the place is mostly meant for students and young people and is quite uncomfortable if you are expecting a hotel-like experience. I mean, it gets the job done and the place is decent but feels more like a dorm.

Very modern and fresh hostel. Private room was great - good size, comfortable bed, nice view. Best kitchen in any hostel I’ve ever been to with incredible views from the dining area and lounge upstairs. Atmosphere was OK but not the most social for solo travellers, although fine for a night or two (plus there aren’t really many choices by the lake).

Fabulous hostel stay!!!
Literally ine of my best hostel stay! The towne is small and hostel is walkable from all directions!!! It’s right next door to The Dark Sky Prorject. You can park along the street or the gravel parking lot down the street. There is a life. Lounging area and kitchen are HUGE. Kitchen is well organized and super clean. There are even ventilators on top of your stove. Every bunk has privacy pull down screen. And pull out storage drawer underneath. Also usb and plug in outlets to charge. There are also cubicles by the door for storage. Ensuite toilet and sink in one closet. Shower and sink in other closet.

Finally back onto the YHA Bookable Online ability - Great Property I've stayed there many times as I own a Shuttle Tour company... Its the perfect overnight- Has been a nightmare to pre book the last 20 months as we all came out of the Covid lockdowns..... Literally impossible to be honest Highly recommend this property.. but stay 2 plus nights... don't rush, as you'll see nothing in Tekapo otherwise

Excellent view from window. Extremely clean room and communal kitchen had everything you need. Would definitely stay here again. Only reason why I rate 4 stars was the cot was extremely squeaky and struggled to sleep cus slightest movement made so much noise.

Great, friendly, well-located hostel
Great hostel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Nice lounge with a fireplace to keep you warm and cozy in the cold winter evenings. The only thing I'd add are lockers in each dorm. Great place!

Wonderful experience
This was probably my best hostel experience! The lounge and dining area were clean and comfy, and both had an unbelievable view. The bedroom had many outlets and it's own heater. The bathrooms were clean, but the woman's could use more outlets. Service was friendly, but you'll want to get there after 1 because if you get there earlier, you may have to wait to check in! It's walking distance from the tiny town is is very quaint. The only thing that could've made it better would be a complimentary breakfast!

Not bad at all...
good points: *lovely staff *nice lounge with an lovely view of the lake.. *clean communal area *the rooms where very warm.. love it *nice comfy mattress, clean bed sheet and duvet which is replaced daily. (i think) bad points: *the dorms are next to the dinning area and kitchen and it gets really noise when you are trying to sleep *there is no "UNO STACKO" game in the hang out area.. its a must game in a backpacker *slippery entrance note: the fact that my friend who has never experience this type of accommodation has been impressed means it has been good.
