Overall, our family of 2 adults and 2 preteens very much enjoyed our 5 day stay at Napili Kai. This is a GREAT beach, and while several resorts share it, we never felt it was crowded. Great sand, beautiful views, with some fun snorkeling to the north end. You can see whales spouting in the distance during the season. The resort grounds were well kept and good looking. The Kapalua walking trail nearly abuts the resort and makes for a fun easy hike. Our keaka studio room was very nice, with full kitchenette and private ocean view balcony. While parking was pretty compact, it was included, and we loved that they don’t nickel and dime you with parking and resort fees.
Our only complaints were that the amenities are somewhat misrepresented. It says there are 4 pools and two hot tubs—one for adults only. Ok. But some pools are off limits if you’re not staying in certain rooms, and the only pool and hot tub our kids were allowed in closed down at sunset—6pm! That’s about when we roll back into the resort after a full day of activities and want to swim. The snack shop and towel service also close at 4 and 5. Shuffleboard? Too bad—it closes at 5 with the snack shop. We didn’t eat at the Sea House restaurant on site because it was pricey, even for Maui. Overall, beautiful location and a quiet neighborhood. This isn’t the place to stay if you want to walk to lots of shops and restaurants, but it was great if you plan to drive and explore the west side of the island.
