We had an extremely small room, could barely walk around the bed, had a small window close to the floor, the room was on the 1st floor only reachable with staircase. The toilets were not working and located less than a meter from the bed with a poor sliding door (zero intimacy). The staff was very unfriendly, not even trying to look for a solution. We saw the staff being absolutely awful with other guests, charging them 5€ per baggage to be stored in the baggage room (even small kid backpacks), in cash only, obviously not willing to give receipts. This hotel is far from being legal in so many aspects!

Monsieur,Vous avez réservé deux jours avant votre arrivée, nous vous avons attribué la chambre qui était disponible pour cette période, notre personnel vous avez proposé par le biais d'Expedia une autre chambre que vous avez refusé. A aucun moment vous avez signalé le dysfonctionnement des toilettes (notre service technique serait intervenu immédiatement). Nous avons en effet un service bagagerie gratuit pour nos clients et payant pour l'extérieur, Devons nous vous demander l'autorisation ? Croyez vous que si nous n'étions pas conforme aux normes nous aurions l'autorisation d'ouverture ?

Location is perfect
The hotel fit my purpose for a quick trip to La Rochelle. The location in the Vieux Poet is perfect, with restaurants and sites very handy.

Be Forewarned: A Mixed Bag
So, I don’t like to complain, but this hotel is a real mixed bag. First, the hotel is very well-situated between the train station and the old port, it’s very modern and tries hard to be chic. The design is interesting, but the open common area around which all the rooms are oriented is not as pictured. It’s now a dining area for breakfast service. That said, the design concept is an interesting touch. Secondly — and crucially — if you’re unlucky enough to be placed in one of the rooms on the 1st floor (2nd floor for Americans), you very well will have an open bathroom. “What’s that?” you ask. It means that there is no door to your bathroom. It’s situated behind a wall between the bathroom and the bedroom, but in terms of privacy, that doesn’t do much. I mean, traveling as a couple who’s been married for 13 years, it’s not a big deal, but if this is a romantic getaway — maybe your first trip together — be forewarned. You will probably be defecating in the same room you’re sleeping in. There. I said it. Forewarned is forearmed. Lastly, the hotel advertises itself as having soundproof rooms. This is simply untrue. Noise is a problem, not from the interior of the hotel, but from the outside. Sound insulation was NOT a real investment by the designers. So: very friendly and helpful staff and an interesting design concept, but no real soundproofing and an epic bedroom/bathroom design make La Fabrique the hotel I will NOT go back to during my next trip to La Rochelle.

Being willing to offer you the best quality of service for your stays, your opinion is very valuable to us.As indicated on our website or on our communication supports, our photos are not contractual. Our spaces are likely to be rearranged according to our occupation. That is why the nave was replaced by our breakfast area.However, we are sincerely sorry if the room allocated was not up to your expectations. The rehabilitation was done in an existing building (constraint), hence the lack of door between the bathroom and the bedroom. However, they are not all identical. Guests are free to contact us by phone or to mention in the comments section their specific requests, when they know the hotel.Concerning the outside noise, that is not our fault, unfortunately. We have sent several petitions to the city hall of La Rochelle. We apologize for the inconvenience. These are the hazards of downtown. Please accept our deepest apologies for that.Kindest regards,

Charming little hotel close to the harbour. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, cool and comfortable. We were really pleased with our stay.

Very nice hotel and staff. I liked the atypical decor. Room was nice and good value for money easy to get around the town and quick access to train station. Absolutely would stay again. Only complaint is would be nice to have a mini fridge in room to keep drinks.

Ok Stay.
Hotel had an “industrial” feel to it. Rooms are small, internet a bit slow,no artwork on walls. Breakfast was fine, parking is nearby. The location is excellent.

Great location and hotel, but beware parking
Nice place, but I drove around in a circle when I arrived, then realizing that you can’t drive right up to the hotel, the City has a large pedestrian area blocked off. 10 minute walk with luggage from City parking to the hotel, but once there it’s very centrally located.

La Fabrique - super hotel
Really unusual hotel. Old on the outside but very modern inside. Comfortable beds, spotlessly clean rooms. I had a disabled room and it had plenty of space for our bags and wheelchair. The shower had a good, solid put down stool so I could sit with comfort whilst showering. One odd thing was the tap on the wash hand basin, to get hot water you had to push it to the right and then hot water came out with great force! Difficult to adjust, for me anyway. Nice bar downstairs and very nice staff all went out of their way to be helpful. An unbeatable situation right in the centre of the old port area. Breakfast looked good, both hot and cold but all we wanted was a short walk to get a croissant and coffee. We stayed two nights but didn’t have far to walk to find a nice coffee shop, almost next door, serving an excellent cafe creme and breakfast!

Amazing central hotel
An amazing hotel in the port area of La Rochelle. The decor is quirky and stylish, the staff are friendly and very helpful, Jeremy arranged discounted parking nearby, you just need to email reception to book. Rooms were basic, but had everything you needed. Beds super comfortable, and great showers. We travelled with a large group for the La Rochelle vs Exeter Chiefs champions cup rugby. The hotel is in the busy bar area, so can be a little noisy, but was perfect for us. We will stay here again. 5 stars.

What a find
Really pleased with our choice of this hotel and I looked at a number of different hotels in La Rochelle before booking. Great location, helpful staff, lovely room. Discount voucher for a cocktail in the bar, what’s not to love.

This hotel is fairly new so the rooms are very clean. However the rooms are quite tiny but was ok for me. Hotel is in a great location. 5-7 min walk from the train and a really really good location. There is a grocery store a few doors down. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend.
