The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and breakfast was very thorough as well. The gentlemen at the front desk was very accommodating and polite. Very quiet area when we were there. Was Oct and most shops were still open. Went on Land Train and Govres was busier. Close to winery areas. Don't make my mistake and fly into Chania airport as transfers were over 2 hours and had to be private ones.
The crickets / insects in the trees are extremely noisy all day & well into the night. If you want total calm, it might be a bit shocking
If you're not on an All Inclusive holiday, visit Paul & Fiona at The Whisky Bar on Beach Road. Very friendly, with cold guinness on draught and a fantastic selection of whisky at very reasonable prices. Bus to Heraklion/Airport costs only €2 each.
Book the onsite restaurants early the morning before. The Greek taverna restaurant on site sometimes has same day bookings. There is free pouring so prepare for some strong drinks. Book tours with hotel pickup, we did a Land Rover off road tour/safar
