"Balmacara Hotel was one of the best properties we stayed at in Scotland. Wish we could have stayed longer than our 2 nights because our view was AMAZING! We had a breathtaking view of Loch Alsh, the mountains around it, and a very clean, spacious room. The staff was very friendly, and so helpful even assisting with our luggage. We were able to rest up after our scenic trip from Inverness to Kyle, then had a fantastic meal downstairs in their restaurant, with another beautiful view of the Loch and mountains. We enjoyed the Scottish White Crab Meat-locally sourced, Pumpkin & Sage Ravioli, Butter Greens with Grana Padano Cheese and Chocolate Clementine Tort. All the food was prepared fresh, served at proper temperatures and mouth-watering delicious. The restaurant deserves a fantastic separate review, as the food was impeccable and satisfying, served by Jeevan who was courteous, attentive and friendly, and the meal came without sticker shock from being overcharged. Breakfast was also good, offering a large variety, something for everyone. I especially loved the yogurt and muesli, coffee machine, fruits and pastries with variety of jams. We LOVED everything about this hotel, even down to every detail, like how they saved us a parking spot on our 2nd night, knowing we were out late exploring Isle of Skye! Words alone can not express how WONDERFUL this property location was, while the employees were so kind and helpful. We will visit here again!!"

"Super cozy. Restaurant right on site with delicious breakfast. Close to Ben Nevis for hiking and downtown for shopping. Two supermarkets right there. And the train pretty much stops at the door."

"The hotel has a great vibe and the staff are lovely. The views are incredible. The restaurant wad busy but the staff were great. Portions were generous and the food was good. Our only real complaint was our room #31. I understand old hotels don’t have lifts, so it’s a long way up to the top floor with luggage. Our room had water damage around the windows. One of the windows was taped shut. New drywall wasn’t even patched. Stains on the wallpaper around the walls by the windows. A painting for the wall was in closet and wall plugs left dangling on the wall where it hung. When the wind picked up the window and possible exterior sheathing kept rattling. As we left we saw other rooms open that were being cleaned. They were in much better shape. That room should have been repaired before being used."

"Front desk staff is rude and you do their entire job on an iPad. Construction is extremely intrusive. "

"Pillows are really bad, one bed light was broken and just hanging, bathroom mirror was aimed at the floor and wouldn’t stay up, towel heater barely warm in parts. Hallway had a musty smell, not as strong in the room. "

"Parking was no problem, place was clean and tidy, No staff available to speak to only by phone if you have any issues, breakfast was simple no frills"

"Trouble with the door lock box requiring assistance several times leading to placement of new lock box. Difficulty with door lock. Gentleman on site was very helpful. Bathroom needs upgrading. Water mixer didn't seem to work well. Heater was unique to us. A whiteboard on the wall, worked well. Liked the pine wallboards. Location was a bit difficult to find. Enjoyed out one night stay!"
