Frozen Ship II 奥利洪岛Olkhon Island - Russia 🇷🇺 Olkhon is the fourth-largest lake-bound island in the world. It is by far the largest island in Lake Baikal in eastern Siberia, with an area of 730 km². Structurally, it acts as the southwestern margin of Academician Ridge.

The Trans-Siberian Railway is 100 years old today, so it’s a good moment to look back at my journey from 2011. I went from Moscow to Irkutsk, near Lake Baikal. That’s about half of the total length. Took me a bit more than 4 days and as many time zones. Plus one season change, as I left Moscow at 32 degrees Celsius, and got off the train in Irkutsk at 6 degrees. This is the Shaman's Rock, on Olkhon Island, the largest in Lake Baikal. It is said to be one of the most sacred places in all Asia.
