Gerardina was very wonderful. The hospitality was the absolute best. I felt very safe and blessed to be there. Would 100% recommend to anyone. And the location was great because it was close to the national park.
Very friendly and helpful staff, location was hard to find, google gave wrong directions. Great food for dinner and breakfast. Saw lots of frogs.

The room was clean and spacious. The property is amazing with nature trails right outside your cabin and a beautiful garden with a talking parrot. The hotel/restaurant also has a few chickens and a turkey. The food at the restaurant was so authentic and some of the best food we ate in Costa Rica. I definitely recommend the tilapia. We ate at the restaurant for 3 of the 4 meals that we had when we were in the area because of how good and convenient it was. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive and authentic place to stay.
Very cute and quiet location. The walk to their entry to Rio Celeste was quick and the hike in super fun, especially the Tarzan swing and the swim in the beautiful blue river.
You definitely need a car to get around the area, not much in the way of public transportation.
Meals were great and staff was very friendly.
Room was perfectly fine.
Room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay (1 night). Staff was super friendly and the food at the restaurant was excellent! Very peaceful and quiet!
Pasado Rio Celeste el Amistad was great value. It’s clean. Conveniently located to Volcán Tenorio park and many great restaurants. Staff was super friendly. Restaurant was good. If you are looking for a basic but reasonably priced value, this is the place!!!
The most friendly crew ever! Friendly upon arrival, during frog search in the evening, …
We have done a couple of expensive night tours but did not by far find as many beautiful frogs as in their garden.
Very kind staff, eager to please. You’ll want to be sure you’ve done all you want to do for the day before arriving- roads in and out are a bit difficult but very drivable. Arrive before 2 to enjoy the paths on property, or come in at sunset to rest and dine on site. Would not recommend navigating here after dark.
Very happy with my stay. Room was clean and bed was comfy. No AC but 2 oscillating fans in room to keep cool. Restaurant great food. Had breakfast at 7:30AM and then walked to Tenorio National Park and hiked until 10:30AM. On my walk back to hotel, stopped by the private trail that leads to a spot in Rio Celeste that you can swim in. I was a little late getting back for check out, but the lady owner told me not to worry about it. Super friendly staff and just a great stay overall.
The location is beautiful, and off of the main road, so there isn’t any road traffic sound… unlike some nearby lodges that cost more. The staff is friendly, and they did my laundry on the same day, without an extra charge… The food is good and different from surrounding lodges in the fact that they also have Italian food, in addition to the wonderful Costa Rican fare. Abundant, luxuriously, foliated, gardens, full of flowers and birds… repeat with birdfeeders attracting some for close observation or photography. Common local birds are present, but due to the distance between the hotel and primary reinforced cover the Hills and nearby national park, there won’t be too many unusual varieties… but two species of toucans are abundant and vocal in the morning.… While frogs annunciate at night. There is private parking, and road leading to the hotel is not paved… But it’s also easily reversed by any type of car. Bearings were clean and cozy, and the shower is the electric type… So remember not to turn the water volume up too much or you won’t feel the warmth of the heating element…. But if you turn the water volume down, it will still be at a comfortable level, with hot water.
You can't get any closer to the hike for Rio Celeste and it is so much better tonight hike first thing in the morning before it gets too crowded and the animals are all still out!
This place was so charming and simple. The staff are beyond hospitable and it feels like you are a guest of a family. The restaurant on site is very good and open until 8pm. We loved this stay and are so glad we booked it. The single beds creak a bit but we slept well anyway
Breakfast was really good and the sausage was delicious!!! If you want an authentic experience, to see red eyed tree frogs at night and are open to off the beaten path this place was an incredible find at a great value.
There is also a shop and another restaurant on the same little road, along with mountain bike rentals. Side note... If you get offered a guide to the waterfall it will be worth every penny! We did this upon arrival and are so glad we did
The property is beautiful and we saw birds from our porch. The room is comfortable. It has a relatively big bar fridge. Gerardina is very friendly and helpful and her sister too. They handle the front desk and serve meals. It's a family business.
The restaurant has very good food at reasonable prices. It is open on the sides, so you can see the flowers and plants surrounding it. Also, you can see hummingbirds and other birds.
The location is excellent, very close to the national park.
As for swimming, I went in Rio Celeste - Danta Free River Pool. It is fairly shallow, but a good place to cool off. Just park near the bridge. We also took the Sendero Las Sorpresas and swam there. The swimming area is protected from the current and it's gorgeous. However, the trail to get there has a lot of steps and it is slippery in places, so wear hiking boots.

You get what you paid for. We stayed only one night and it was okay. I selected this properties based on the good reviews. After visiting however, I concluded that the only outstanding hotel in the area was Hideaway Rio Celeste but it was 10 times more expensive than Posada and similar B&Bs. At Posada's cabin you feel a little more comfortable that you would be in a tent, but you have inside bathroom, a shower (cold water only), and a fan, no AC. The owners are really nice people, and a traditional CR breakfast was decent. The real gem on the property was a talking parrot. He made my day (or rather the very early morning :) Good location - very close to the the river and with the private access for additional $5 p/p. We didn't use the private access with a pool supposedly 3 meters deep because it was closing at 4pm when we basically arrived, so we just went to the free part of the river by the bridge and it was good enough to chill out and experience unique Rio Celeste. It is also close to the park if you plan to hike. Safe travels!
Nice small property with buildings spread around. Rooms 1-4 are in one building, but the rest looked individual. Clean, comfortable room. Bench outside on porch for seating.
Dinner and breakfast were good with lots of options, and good beer selection for a small place.
Very convenient to National park entrance for blue river hike.

The staff was amazing! When we got to the hotel we were all wet and cold. They didn’ even make us officially check in. They opened our rooms so we could change and have them wash and dry our clothes. Gave us hot ‘agua dulce’ to warm up, and put logs in the chimney so we warmed up. Very family oriented, very very welcoming. The rooms were very clean and breakfast was delicious!
The property has amazing little creatures outside at night. The parrot is amazing. It was the only hotel that smelled good my entire trip. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing.
