The hotel staff were very rude initially. A gal came down and offered to find the clerk, might have been the owner, and she offered to check me in when she was unable to locate him. Went to the room and my wife took a nap and i was relaxing on the patio. He called and woke up my wife. I tried to call him back but he was at our door knocking loudly. He started to berate me for how i checked in. He said she shouldn't have checked us in and i needed to come back and check in. I apologized and went to check in again. He started being nice at that point. Ruined the mood atvthat point. The room was clean, antique decor, great view. I wouldn't stay there again because of the service. The area of Kamiah was very run down and trashy, very disappointing.

While we appreciate your feedback, this is a complete exaggeration of circumstances. You were given a key to your room without paying, by a housekeeper who did not know what she was doing. I cannot help that your wife was taking a nap - you hadn't paid, and I do not possess the powers of telepathy to determine she was napping. When I couldn't reach you on the phone, I came and knocked on your door - again, because you hadn't paid. Normal protocol is pay, then enjoy. I was very nice to you, but stern about not paying. I am sorry you were unsatisfied with almost everything - most of our reviews are Excellent, and Kamiah gets great reviews as well. Next time maybe you'll follow the natural sequence of rightful events in order to get checked in properly, and have a more pleasant experience. During the brief interaction we had, you couldn't seem to put your phone down either, so it would have helped during our moment of communication to do that as well. All the best.

This hotel is a hidden gem. I had to call the front desk to tell them what a great experience we had. Top tier hospitality! The rooms were impressive, clean and the decor gave a cozy feel. The view of the clearwater river was such a beautiful sight to see, especially sunrise on the deck. We even got to see an eagle flying ahead. 10 out of 10, will definitely be staying again. Thank you Hearthstone Lodge for the truly special experience-- we will think fondly of this place for years to come.

This was a uniquely elegant yet warm and beautiful lodge. The owners were thoughtful and kind and their service was above and beyond. They own a bakery/restaurant in town that serves delicious food, homemade breads and desserts. This was our favorite place of the entire month long trip!

We love this place! The area is lovely, the rooms are beautiful-spacious and the inn keeper, Rolf, gave us a tour of the inn and provided helpful information about the area. We will be back!

Besides the smoke alarm battery going out in the middle of the night the stay was quite and very nice . We came from spokane to work on a house in the area and we definitely enjoyed the lodge and the staff. The people around town are also very welcoming and fun to be around . Woukd recommend it to anyone looking to just get away for a few days for peace and quiet.

Beautiful accommodations
This was our second trip here. We will always stay here. Service was fantastic, room was beautiful and clean. Even the soap and shampoo made you feel like you were being pampered! We will be planning another trip very soon to stay here.

Beautiful place. Mountains, trees, views of the river. Very quiet. My second stay. I love the suites with the fireplace, balcony and jetted tub! The staff and owners are kind, attentive and helpful. If you stay here you will feel embraced, like family.

Wonderful stay
Wonderful comfortable stay. The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable. The food at the restaurant was good. The staff was amazing. Definitely plan to come back.

Great place, we would stay here again
Our only regret is that we checked in at dinnertime and had to leave early the next morning. This place is beautiful, both inside and out. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The interior of the hotel was very nice, with lots of good artwork, and a large common area on the first floor. One note is that the included breakfast was not on-site, but at a very nice place just a couple miles down the road in Kamiah. Excellent food, not your typical continental breakfast. Plus, they had a variety of homemade breads and pastries. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful setting, tastefully appointed room and genuine and heartfelt service from the owner himself. We spent a week in Idaho, and this was easily our finest accommodation. Did I mention the fantastic breakfast?

It was a very nice facility with beautiful furniture. My two bed room was very spacious. Parking is limited and the driveway for it was hard to see in the dark. They do offer breakfast in town and that was a total bonus. A very nice stay.

Great stay along the Clearwater
Amazing place - we were on Motorcycles, The host checked us in and threw us the keys to a loaner vehicle to take to town for supper. The room was spacious, and clean, bed very comfortable, quiet, no road noise. Complimentary breakfast at the cafe/bakery in town was excellent too.
