Stayed one night after taking a train down from Fukuoka to check out the city. Very close to the train station so I could store my luggage at the station before checking in to the hotel. I checked in later in the day after arriving to Kagoshima in the AM. Check in was very simple and quick. Desk clerk understood my Japanese/English mix. Some descent restaurants in the area. Room was comfortable for one. Stayed in many APA hotels in Japan. Inexpensive room but I’m not hanging out in the room all day. If you understand what you want and what you get, it’s a great hotel stay.

Very nice hotel.The staff were very kind and helpful.Room was beautiful I booked single room very spacious and everything I needed.Have stayed many APA hotels in Japan and only had one bad one from multiple stays .Have 3 more APA hotels booked great hotel reasonable price Thank you APA.

Great location. Restaurants near by and a few minutes walk from the station. Use the laundry. Drying machine didnt work very well. We did 2 uses and clothes were still wet. Bed too small and not that comfortable.

Fairly typical Japanese business hotel - I find APA to be one of the better ones and this one was no exception. A bit older, but very close to the station and there are tons of shops around. If you are tall (over 6ft 2 or 190 cm or so) the shower will be too low for you (the ceiling).

Conveniently located.
I like this hotel very much. It is located close to local facilities and Kagoshima Chuo Stn. The staff are friendly, the rooms comfortable,and cost;reasonable. And as I intend to visit Kagoshima often, APA Eki Mae Hotel will continue to be my first choice.

Convenient location
Very conveniently located, just across the Main Railway station of Kagoshima. A convenient store is on other side of a street. There are many restaurants and pubs within 100m. But we had a rental car and had to pay 1000 yen for a parking next to the hotel. We had to move out the car before 11 am.

Heating was done by a small (airconditioner + heater) on the wall. Heater blows hot and dry air directly to the beds, sleeping was very difficult due to due to this direct hot wind to the my face during sleeping. Window sealing was very poor. Cold wind from outside keep blowing in through the slot between the windows.

Best valued hotel at the heart of Kagoshima
You can go to this hotel within 10mins from the Kagoshima bus terminal if you are going Kagoshima by plane. The hotel is located at the heart of the city, so it’s very convenient when you need to use the Shinkansen, to shop in amu plaza and aeon, or go to Kagomma Furusato Yataimura for some local delicacies. It’s especially convenient if you wanna spend a night in shiroyama hotel, which is the best hotel in the region. Shiroyama hotel offer you shuttle bus every 30 mins to various visiting hotspot such as tenmonkan and shiroyama for free, and the bus stop is just next to the APA hotel within 1min walking distance. You should spend a few nights in shiroyama hotel for the onsen and the historic events happened in there.

Reception was good and efficient, price and location was good. Parking was an excellent service but bed was small for 2 people and couldn't control room temperature except by opening the window with associated noise from the streets of the railway station. The bathroom was not fresh smelling.

I spent two nights at this hotel before heading to Izumi. The hotel located at excellent location near Kagoshima-Chuo station, a lot of eateries nearby.

Sub standard room
Very dated hotel with threadbare carpets, stained walls, non-functional equipment. The beds felt like sleeping in a hammock (the support being completely worn away). The first room they put me in smelled so bad I had to change rooms (smelled like a locker room at a budget gym). If this was a very low budget hotel, it would be passable, but the hotel uses surge pricing so booker beware. Very sub par for Japan. Photos: 1. Possibly the worst pillow I have ever had at any hotel. 2. Fridge was the smallest I've ever seen. 3. Desk "chair" 4. "Black out" curtains

Nice for the short stay
Just in for a short stay, close to Kagoshima station, so it’s an easy 2 minute walk once you find the correct exit at the train station. Also a pretty nice view from the top floors on the station. The hotel is a bit rundown though, seems the rooms haven’t been updated to latest standards since the nineties. Lacking wall sockets for example and all yellowish walls and ceilings and bathrooms. The rooms we’re perfectly clean though, nothing wrong with that.

Nice location, a little bit disappointing facility
The hotel was really close to the Kagoshima-chuo station. Staffs were kindful, but only spoke Japanese. The hotel room was clean but was slightly far from pleasing since there was broken electric socket and it didn't work. The hotel didn't provide water, so we had to buy something to drink from convenience store nearby. Considering the price I paid, it was pretty disappointing.

Customer service was excellent and courteous. My room was very clean and tidy. When we arrived first night, an origami paper crane was place on our bed. This is my second time staying at this hotel in the last two years. Hotel is minutes away from train station, shopping mall and bus terminal. Optional breakfast is available...mostly traditional Japanese food. Only complaint was I was unable to bidet remote control to work for toilet and I did advise concergie during our stay.

Awful stay
I felt the staff were very rude and unprofessional. During check in, staff spent some time looking for my reservation on computer, then without asking for permission, took passport to back of reception and disappears to make a copy. (I assume). Failed to give me a receipt upon payment. I felt this was highly unacceptable customer service, especially by Japanese standards in hospitality industry. I thought that the bathroom toilet smelled. I placed an eco card on blanket so sheets wouldn't be changed the next day to help environment, however room service did not even bother to make the bed. I walked into my room next evening like room service literally did nothing. Thus the room was not clean. The TV had lagging problems and room service failed to provide complimentary water bottle. Overall, I had a very bad experience during my stay here. I would not recommend this place due to terrible quality of service in my opinion.

Nice Hotel Mins Walk to Kagoshima Chuo Station
Clean Room & Toilet. Bed is a little too small which is a minus for me. Personally we (my wife & I) need good sleep as we do lots of walking when we are on holidays. Breakfast is ok except for the fact that there is no lift or escalator to its location which is on the 2nd level. Both my wife & I have knees that are not friendly with stairs :). Walking is not a problem but walking up & down stairs are challenging for us. We are in our 60s btw. Hotel staff are friendly & helpful despite not conversant in English language. Overall this is a good hotel. Its close proximity to Kagoshima Chuo Station is very useful for us as we came here from Kumamoto via the train. Also eateries are plenty nearby.
