Holiday Inn Express North Palm Beach-Oceanview by IHG
8/10 Good
"Switcheroo! This is not an ocean view hotel and shouldn’t be advertised that way. I booked a king w/an ocean view online. Upon check-in, we were asked if we wanted 1st or 2nd floor, we said 2nd floor with Ocean view. The staff person said those were sold out, they only had 2 rooms with an ocean view and that’s an issue with the website. It was not sold out when I booked it. We ended up on first floor, with a view of a hedge in the parking lot. There’s almost no way for this to be an ocean view hotel, with its location. It’s a block away from the beach and all along the beach there are condos. It should just read, “near the ocean, with beach access”. That’s not misleading. The property is well maintained, but is an older hotel & does show signs of that. The room was clean, no musty or damp smell. The AC worked well, TV worked, the bed was on the firmer side, but very comfortable. They even have large, comfy pillows; not the small square pillows I’ve been seeing in newer hotels. However, upon check-in, we did ask for more pillows and a blanket, and all the staff could come up with was one pillow; no other pillows or blankets were available. Location is great. The breakfast was good; and the coffee, exceptional. (I am a true Dunkin coffee snob, and rarely drink coffee from a hotel breakfast.) There is a short 1 block walk to the ocean, which brings you to a lovely private beach. Hotel does offer beach chairs & towels. All in all, good place to stay."
