"Don’t let them have you pay to come here for the bar because they don’t have a liquor license so that is just a floozy to get you to spend more money for this hotel. Don’t expect to be able to order off the full menu because they will probably be out of the items you ask for. The complementary breakfast that it states in their terms and conditions is actually not complementary breakfast. It’s $15 a person per day per person. You’ll be provided at 2 x 2 fridge. It may work it may not work. Don’t be surprised to have wires hanging out of your light sockets. And when it comes to the bottom line, and you confess your concerns to the appropriate people, don’t be shocked for nothing to be done about it! The only thing worth your money paying for this hotel is the nice pool! I didn’t wanna leave this for you, but I’ve tried too many options. I’ve gotten absolutely nowhere. Let’s not mention I specifically ordered a room because I have a torn meniscus in my knee. I was still put on the second floor. I didn’t make a fuss about it because there was an elevator, right? Well, how about you try and take a shower in an open shower without anything to hold onto. (Handicap accessible right?) negative. Some staff have been absolutely amazing while others have been 100% unhelpful and disgusting attitude."

Extended Stay America Suites Wilmington New Centre Drive

"I’ve been to many extended-stay properties and this has yet been the worst. At first glance, it seems OK but then you feel like you’re walking into an old motel. The smell that comes from the very dirty carpet in the hallways is atrocious and it gets worse as you walk into the bedroom. My bedroom had a very strong smell of urine by the closet area.It’s almost as if they haven’t had the carpet cleaned in a very long time. This is the property that accepts pets and I can only imagine what happens in these rooms. Everything else in the bedroom seemed pretty clean, although I did find a cockroach crawling on the desk chair in the room. The staff I would say were OK. I had actually extended my stay and called the Front Desk past 11 AM to informed them that I had extended my stay online and they we’re able to answer my question but I will say that the Tone was very much pressing, and in less than a 10 minute. Had called me twice to make sure I come down to the front desk to add a card for incidentals when I was already staying in the hotel and told them I would be coming down."

Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

"Shell Island Resort is very appealing from the outside, and has a fabulous location right on Wrightsville Beach. The indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, restaurant, & Tiki Bar are also great amenities. Unfortunately, the upkeep of the resort is not well-maintained. Upon entering our room, we immediately noticed the broken balcony furniture, a dirty floor, and a broken headboard on our bed. Additionally, the hot tub by the outdoor pool was broken, and when asked, the staff had no idea when it would be repaired. Both the Tiki Bar and the on-site restaurant had odd operating hours. If the upkeep of the hotel improves, we would consider returning for another visit."
