Mercure Rouen Centre Cathedrale

"The property has an excellent location in the old city close to the cathedral (expect some bells!). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only crticism is that Expedia described the hotel as having "laundry facilities". If you screen for "washer and dryer", Expedia gives a positive result for the hotel. When we enquired, we were told that the hotel has a laundry service (several Euros for each item) but no washer and dryer for guest use. We were directed to a nearby laundromat. Mercure's own web site does not mention laundry facilities so the mistake rest with Expedia."

"The room was clean and tidy. I didn’t eat the breakfast but the buffet was adequate and you could order in the restaurant. The carpets were very dark and shows dirt easily, although they cleaned daily. I suggest another carport with a nice pattern be installed in the hallways."

"The hotel is in the less historic part of town on the other side of the River Sienne, not very pretty and quite commercial, lots of fast food outlets and a thriving African community, some lively bars and pubs playing some great Afrobeat. The hotel looks over a huge shopping centre, however it’s also next to a large and very beautiful cathedral on the square, ask for a room on the top floor with a view of the church, spectacular as the sun was setting. The hotel is pretty basic but it is what it is, a bit tatty around the edges, could do with a few repairs, chipped and scuffed wood, lick of paint etc. But the main thing was that it was clean, the bed was big and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful and most importantly, it was cheap!"

"Our first time in Rouen found it a really nice place can’t say to much as we only had one night but for what we paid I can not fault it . Basic but clean staff very helpful so would go back"
