2/10 Terrible

"We chose the hotel online based on the reviews and when we entered the hotel, it was hot dark and dirty. The front counter staff was extremely rude. When we entered our room, it smelled like mold and the air conditioners were exhausting into the lobby area. The air conditioner in our room would not cool properly and was absolutely filthy. Even though we paid for our room, we made the choice to leave and return the keys and never returned. We would highly recommend that no one ever stay at this hotel, and I personally feel that it should be closed permanently. There were bags of trash sitting in the hallway as we were trying to enter our room. The entire place was nasty and should be reported to the health department. Even though we paid for the room in advance, we took the loss and moved on to a much cleaner place. We felt like we needed to take a shower when we got there to get that awful smell off of us."

"We loved our stay here, great services and amenities. The staff are amazing and helpful. We brought 3 large dogs with us and they of course loved them! This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and we will stay each time we pass through Texas, we love The Cactus Cove! The only negative thing I can say about this pet friendly hotel is they need an actual space for the dogs to go outside."

"The hotel stay was good. The hotel was clean, attractive, and breakfast very good. The main issue I have is the forethought from the hotel on requested handicap room. The room was sufficient except there was not thought in the type of bed provided for a handicap room. The mattress height was so high and so it was extremely difficult for my mom r to get in and out of the bed. I had to physically assist her every time she got in and out. In most cases, handicap guests need to be able to sit easily on the bed without climbing in it. The mattress was fine, but the height with box springs was very high. This critique should be considered by the hotel and maybe corporation's guidelines for this type of room. I made my comments known to the front desk clerk, but she did not seem interested in my comment."

"Friendly staff, room was a good size. Hotel is currently under renovations and sign was not up so it was a little difficult to tell if we were in the right place. Lots of construction materials and dust throughout hallways. Something slimy had been spilled on the carpet in our room that house keeping apparently missed other than that, room was relatively clean. Once renovations are completed and construction dust is cleaned up, it will likely be a very nice hotel."

"Room was great! Beds were cozy and quiet. Didn’t get to use the pool in the evenings. It was always very full off children and I think maybe from the parties they were hosting. Couldn’t swear to that one though. Breakfast was great! Lots of options. I would stay here again."
